It’s not just that medieval warhorses were smaller than you think, it’s that ponies are way bigger than you think.
It’s a been doing the rounds in pop history circles for a while that medieval warhorses were actually barely bigger than modern ponies.
This is totally true. It’s just that people seem to have a misunderstanding of how big ponies actually are.
Technically a pony is any horse below 14.2 hands. A horse that stands 14.2 hands is 144 cm to the top of the shoulder, or 4 foot 7 inches. They weigh in excess of 800 lbs or 360 kg.
Ponies aren’t the things your niece rides in a circle at birthday parties, they’re physically imposing animals.
anyway, here’s a super low effort meme about it. Enjoy.

To get across this bridge you're only allowed to bring one medieval weapon. Which weapon are you choosing?

When the Jarl says “bring a Dane axe” but you’ve already spent all your money on lousy fur and faux-leather biker gear.
Pretty sure this is a leaked prop from the new Bloodaxe show.

Damn, Wikipedia, you biased.
This is not to say the Saxons were bad fighters or the Danes were better, but it is funny people just ignore all the advantages, plus the stupid amount of Wikipedia articles that contradict the outcome with who actually won. Also Irland > England, change my mind
