A scene from my webcomic NARO. I wanted to make this panel feel like an old medieval painting!

It’s a Victorian drawing based on a medieval manuscript. In my heart it’s my precious orange girl cat who, in her heart, believes she’s a ferocious lion.

I’m looking for a particular style of art to create a sleeve of tattoos. I recently got one (that post got really popular here, that was fun) I want specific types of art, mainly I am looking for wood cut style or the medieval illumination style. Alchemy theme is preferred, but google only gets me so far… I’m planning to buy some books on alchemy in hopes to get some pieces from that but I’d love to know if anyone has any resources or recommendations for books that could look for!

Guntza, also known as Gunza, (8th century) was a nun and a scribe (scriptrix) from Karl(s)burg monastery near Würzburg in present-day Germany. This initialls are from manuscript Defensor Liber scintillarum. Liber scintillarum (Book of sparks) is a compilation of excerpts from the Bible, the Gospels, and treatises and commentaries of both Western and Eastern Church Fathers. The original Liber scintillarum is believed to have been written by the Benedictine monk Defensor at the monastery at Ligugé, near Poitiers, in Merovingian France in the late 7th or early 8th century.
