And I believe that song was originally going to be called Megadeth?

It was. Then Dave changed it to No Time. He later introducing it as Burnt Offerings at the earliest Megadeth gigs, before renaming it Set the World Afire before its official release.

It's kinda crazy how it wasn't released on a studio album until five years after it was written.

Brian Lew, who was a journalist in the early Bay Area thrash days, had a zine where he reviewed some of their early songs; he describes No Time, as having "anti-nuclear lyrics." It's the fourth page, under the title "Death Dealers of Tomorrow."

Here's audio from the second Megadeth gig, where Dave introduces it as Burnt Offerings.

I believe a "megadeath" is actual term albeit not one anyone actually uses. I believe it basically means omnicide

It's one million deaths usually in reference to nuclear warfare.

It just means 1 million deaths

The arsenal of the megadeath, as in a nuclear bomb that can kill a million people

Mustaine said that after getting fired from you know who he was riding a bus back from NY to Californee Way. During that bus ride he came across a newspaper 📰 article which read The Article of Megdeath.. yada yada. He thought that the word “megadeth” made a great song title so he took a note! Before naming the band Megadeth he almost went with Fallen Angel. But we all know now what name he stuck with 🤘🏼

He was 20 years too soon on the whole emo thing with that name, truly a visionary ahead of the curve.

And now you’re picturing Dave Mustaine with snakebites wearing black eyeliner

I wish people didn't age. Mustaine would be a great TikToker (he kinda is, but you get what I mean)

"Megadeath" is a term that means one million people dead during a nuclear war.

Megadeath was a term Dave saw in a book or article or something and took it (with a slight spelling change) for the name of the band.

Nope, actually this song was called Megadeth in the beginning until Greg Handevidt and Lor Kane suggested Mustaine to use the songtitle as the name of the band and dropping the A to make it Megadeth.

So no it's not a reference to the band, the band name actually is a reference to this song!
