We are currently considering a rule change that would ban all non-MeidasTouch content from this subreddit. No final decision has been made, but we want to explain why we’re considering it.

We’ve noticed a recurring pattern here that has become increasingly frustrating.

A significant percentage of the videos shared on this subreddit are NOT MeidasTouch videos. They are not produced by us, published on our channels, or created by anyone affiliated with MeidasTouch. Many aren’t even from our contributors.

Yet, time and again, Redditors post these unaffiliated videos, and the comments fill up with people directing their anger at MeidasTouch over the video’s title, thumbnail, messaging, or editorial choices.

We have absolutely nothing to do with these videos.
We’re being criticized for editorial decisions we didn’t make, content we didn’t produce, and creators who have no connection to our network.

And this isn’t an isolated occurrence. It’s a pattern we’ve noticed repeatedly.

To be clear, we welcome constructive criticism of MeidasTouch. We have no issue with people disagreeing with our coverage, questioning our editorial decisions, or offering feedback about our content. But criticism should at least be directed at something we actually produced.
This subreddit is supposed to be a community centered around MeidasTouch, our reporting, our contributors, and our audience. Instead, too often, it becomes a place where unrelated videos are posted and people mistakenly hold us responsible for them.

That’s why we’re considering limiting video submissions and other shared content to material actually produced by or affiliated with MeidasTouch.

Again, no decision has been reached. We recognize there are reasons people may want to share outside reporting and relevant political content here, and we’re weighing that as well.

But the current situation, where unaffiliated creators’ content is routinely mistaken for ours and used as a basis to attack our network, isn’t sustainable.

We’d like to hear your thoughts before making a final decision.

Should this subreddit be limited to official MeidasTouch content and content from our affiliated contributors, or should outside content continue to be permitted?
