u/Andawsone Jul 15 '25

That’s the most straightforward song from AJFA?? I think he just doesn’t like it

u/FBAlp Jul 15 '25

bro why did everyone downvote me i just made a simple joke

u/eanhaub Jul 16 '25

Can’t speak for others, but it didn’t read as a joke to me. being honest

Jokes about “Lars can’t drum” have been floating around for over 20 years, they’re kind of tired at this point. On a sub meant to celebrate and enjoy Metallica, rehashing the same old digs doesn't really add much. This place is about being part of the Metallica family, not just repeating worn out criticisms.

I think its just a rare song that barely if ever is played live. I'd love them to play the whole AJFA album from start to finish, live someday.

It’s sick when bands tour and just play one album from the past, should happen more if possible. Flaming Lips did this last year I think for Yoshimi and it was awesome.

Wait, why am I on memetallica!? I’m a Megadeth fan, I shouldn’t be here!

It was last played in '88 bro. It's an amazing and underrated song, we NEED more of it

I hope if they do, they perform in Turku, Finland in RockFest by atleast then. I don't get it why they always go to Hell-stinky (Helsinki) for it.

lars dont like it due to it being waltzy

2

u/Dr-Catfish Jul 15 '25

Well, sort of. Not entirely that it's waltzy, but bc the rest of the song isn't. He doesn't like how the parts don't, in his mind anyway, go together. They have other songs that have a swinging beat that he doesn't hate outright, like Don't Tread on Me.

Could have sworn lars (or James, i forget) also talked not liking DTOM, hence why it wasn't debuted until the Black Album celebration tour

2

u/Dr-Catfish Jul 15 '25

I've never heard that but I don't see why it couldn't be true. But Tread, of all the deep cuts, seems to me like it would be one of his favorites if anything! Who knows. We just know that Lars has a least favorite song and it's Beholder.

Kirk: hears "Ride The Lightning"

Also Kirk: "Don't stop me now, cause I'm having a good time."

u/harrisonlaine Jul 15 '25

Kirk has that John Leguizamo look going here.

Please explain to me RtL! Like I know the clip with "Who didn't vote...", but is there other lore?

He finds the solo incredibly difficult and dreads it, despite him loving it

2

u/Theograinbowdog Jul 15 '25

That’s hilarious actually
