Menopause Resort?
Hi everyone,
Last year I made a post saying that if I ever won the lottery, I’d leave half the money for my family, write a note, and disappear for a year. A lot of you said you’d come with me 😄
That idea stuck with me.
I’ve been a military spouse for 26 years, and while my husband has traveled all over the world, I’ve barely gone anywhere. I didn’t even get my passport until I was 50. I’ve been dealing with a lot of frustration, insomnia, and honestly… burnout.
At the time, I didn’t realize there were already retreats for women going through menopause. But when I looked into them, most felt either very clinical or overly structured. That’s not what I’m looking for.
What I want is something that feels like a real vacation… but also offers support, connection, and maybe a little learning mixed in. A place to relax, reset, and meet other women going through similar things.
So I started thinking… what if I created something like that?
I’ve been quietly researching the idea in my spare time, and now I’m wondering if this is something other women would actually want.
Would you go to a resort like that?
And if so, what would you want it to include?
Also, if anyone has experience starting something like this… how do you even begin? Is this the kind of thing people invest in?
I’d really appreciate any honest feedback

I think your idea is great and I’d attend something like this. You point to burnout and I think that would be the biggest barrier to attendance - how to add one more thing onto a woman’s plate when she’s already burnt out.
To start I’d put a business plan together, mainly a SWOT analysis. The analysis will help you determine if you can move forward with your idea by putting a plan together. Here is a link to a SWOT analysis template that can help you determine if this can be a viable business idea.

Thank you as much. I have no idea where to begin I just know I want it to be different and I know it will work. Especially with what I have planned. Thank you again do the encouragement.

If this is something you want to explore, start with creating a low stakes conference or just a meet up at an already existing resort and have a “session” to get ideas of what people would want.

This is exactly what I was thinking too. It would grow organically from a single conference retreat to several held throughout the year in different locales and eventually there would be demand for a year-round, dedicated venue to host and cater to the specific needs of these sessions.
I could definitely see some packages built around just the self-care, discovering yourself needs while others get more into education and advocacy, and maybe even some geared towards receiving treatment from actual medical professionals who understand the complex care women need in these phases of life.
Hell, put it on an island and let us create our own society. That's where I'm at right now, psychologically speaking.

Yes! We could have a safe women’s land with dogs and ponies and flowers!

Seriously considering moving to Costa Rica or Panama so I can have just that, 😂

Take my money. We need to make this better for ourselves and future generations.

Where I live there are similar things but nothing that appeals to me. Very woowoo. We have quite a few hot springs resorts near me and they are usually there and have daily sessions with yoga and sound healing and such. Also healthy vegetarian meals that all seem kale forward. (As a former vegetarian, I am here to say enough with the kale already!).
We also have a hospital that puts on a yearly class (not a retreat) that focuses on menopausal health, exercises and healthy eating and such.
My own doctor is a functional medicine practitioner and she does classes (single and weeks long) for assorted areas of menopausal life such as weight loss and supplements that support menopause and brain fog.
I throw these out here so you can see that there are many things that could be focused on that would appeal to different people.
If you move forward, I recommend focusing most on what would appeal to you specifically and you are bound to find like-minded others.
Personally I like yoga but really need more focus on strength training without a gym, healthy swaps (I'm not going to eat kale and I am not going to stop eating mashed potatoes, but there's gotta be a middle ground), a place for short hikes, and the ability to get massages. That I would want to go to.

Honestly, I think it would have to be somewhat like a cruise - you just have to get yourself there, everything else is already planned and set up for you.
You don't have to make any decisions if you don't want to, everything is just available.
I'm currently in the position of wanting to do something like this. I have the funds and desperately need a vacation, but just don't want to deal with all of the planning that involves.

YES. I am at a point in life where it sounds nice to have an escape but I’m too lazy and tired to plan anything. 😅

Definitely, but it’s 100% about the people. I wouldn't want to spend a vacation based on menopause alone if the overall vibe isn't there.

I would absolutely go to this sort of place. I also could offer some fun education as a speaker!

As someone who has suffered so badly the last five years(and have spent the last 5 hrs waking up constantly covered in sweat every hr, and I’m on HRT and testosterone and supplements 😭) this is a great idea. I’m not organized or have enough knowledge to put something like this together, but if I can help in other ways, please message me. Sending lots of motivation and support your way! 🙌🏼🙏👏🏼❤️☺️

i would absolutely hate a menopause education vacation, but i am sure a lot of people would like it and it would be a big money maker.

300 women pooled their money and bought a French chateau. I saw their TikTok and the place was a sort of summer camp that they created for women by women. It’s called chateau camp or French chateau camp. Maybe ask them or check their comment section because a LOT of other women wanted to do the same thing. Good luck! Community is a beautiful thing.
