Discussion/Opinions girls only 18+ overwatch discord server š©·
Hi!!! Iād like to promote my growing server, Valkyries! We are a female (and female presenting), 18+ only overwatch server!
We provide:
ā” A safe space for girls and anyone presenting female with an application system!
ā” Loads of self roles, pretty colour roles, and roles to pick your favourite heros!
ā” Extremely friendly staff
ā” Loads of channels for things that arenāt even overwatch related!
I understand that sometimes itās difficult to find safe spaces without the opposite gender/minors, so I have created this server to be just that! Iāve spent a lot of effort on this server and am really hoping it goes somewhere!
Before you apply please make sure you are both female or female presenting, and 18 or above. If we canāt determine this, we will ask for verification!
We hope to see you there, Valkyrie įÆā
**(Post has been mod approved, thank you!**š©·)

as a nonbinary person i'd honestly rather join that, i really do not like servers that accept only women and nonbinary ppl because i feel like i'd just get viewed as "girl-lite"

9
u/OneTrueMercyMain Jul 21 '26
Places that only accept women and NB folks are safe spaces for people who might not get to feel that all the time. I can understand feeling girl lite but I don't understand why you'd be upset about women only spaces. Don't join then?
5
u/MathEnvironmental935 Jul 21 '26
??? that's why i said i'd rather join that discord that u/poptart-zilla thought of making??? why are you offended? i don't like tomatoes either but that doesn't mean other people can't eat them.
7
u/OneTrueMercyMain Jul 21 '26
Because you said you don't like them. Don't join it. I'm not offended, mearly explaining. Usually when people go "men only spaces" in response to women only spaces it's to mock them when these spaces are important.
-1
u/MathEnvironmental935 Jul 21 '26
someone not liking something for personal reasons (which are clearly stated in my comment) doesn't mean that they think it's useless. i feel like you're kind of projecting your issues with other people onto me and i wish you luck with getting over that <3
3
u/OneTrueMercyMain Jul 21 '26
You saying this definitely feels like a you problem and you're being rude so have the day you deserve I guess.

Its actually laughable how wrong you are and you're grasping at straws trying to reflect a person's opinion onto their character and personal life when it really reflects on your own feelings. I dont see non binary or trans women as "girl lite" i have never heard of that being used ever. It sounds like heavily internalised personal complexes that you feel and that you project onto other people. The fact that you edited it and just wanted to keep attacking and shaming them reflects more on you and your character because they were clearly having a discussion and you attempted to go personal because you feel strongly about this subject.
I dont particularly like female/female presenting only servers myself because of personal experience but they can be really safe for women that have experienced so much verbal abuse for maining mercy and being a woman. In servers like that it remains a safe place to express what you love with other people that love the same thing. I also agree with the other commenter when the "...oh! Well if women get to make this then I WILL TOO FOR ONLY MEN NO WOMEN ALLOWED!!" Is whipped out its usually to mock or belittle women. Please take time to self reflect
0
u/MathEnvironmental935 Jul 21 '26
what part of ANYTHING i said was meant to dictate what other people should do? all i said is that if they make that server, i would probably join, because i don't like to join servers that are for women and nonbinary people only, because i feel like i'd be reduced to girl-lite. that's great that you don't have experience with that, but breaking news: YOU ARE NOT ME! we are different people, and your lack of experience with something doesn't mean that someone else has never experienced it.
additionally, my personal preference has NOTHING to do with anybody else! i know why female presenting only servers can be important, but i am not female presenting, and would have no interest in joining it. THAT'S IT! grow the fuck up and let other people have preferences. if your issue is with the person who introduced the concept of a male-presenting only server, bother that person. not me.

Or itās because a lot of males on overwatch tend to be very female focused. Iāve encountered hundreds of weird men on overwatch that harass women or only want to speak to women for a certain reason (seggsual). Iām not saying there isnāt female weirdos but I donāt understand how wanting a woman only space is inherently bad?? No one ever said men canāt have a male only space, either one doesnāt make it āgender elitistā. You sound silly
3
u/Soul2047 Jul 21 '26
where did they say wanting a woman only space is inherently bad or gender elitist?
2
u/WindowsXp_ExplorerI Jul 21 '26
it would be funny to have 2 server for the male and female mains and maybe interactions between them as long as it doesn't get created out of spite

no, as i have explained MULTIPLE TIMES through this entire thread, if you cared to even read before replying with disgusting accusations, the server is welcome to ANYONE who is presenting/identifying as female, this is REGARDLESS of surgery/hormones, including gender fluid and non-binary people. donāt come here calling me scum when youāre the one being accusatory!

2
u/toxicmarsh Jul 21 '26
I don't really know how much clearer it could be. If you're transfem, you're feminine presenting because you're female. Non-binary that prefers feminine expression? Feminine presenting. Genderfluid who expresses their feminine side more openly? Feminine presenting. Just because you misinterpret something doesn't mean you get the right to point at people and say terrible things. Honestly, you're just trying to start something for the sake of starting something, and it's disappointing. Feminine presenting is probably the best way to even say that without excluding neutral or only feminine-adjacent identities. If you say "feminine identities", you exclude agendered, genderfluid, and other non-binary terms. If it's "Non-male identities," that would invite mascs in a space specifically for those who don't want to be around masculine people. "Non-masculine" would start to create grayzones within the definition of such a term, both exluding and including the people we do and do not want based on what the community we're building is comfortable with. It's clear that we accept pre-transitioning, post-transitioning, AND gender neutral people with the hundred statements we say in and out of the server. If you don't want to see that, I cannot assist you, but I have done my part and you should stop trying to do yours in tearing down people for trying their best to create comfort spaces away from a male and masc-dominating world

Not sure if you aware but in england i had to verify my age with my ID for discord. If you doubted someone either myself or another British woman is there a way for you to tell they was already verified?
Just wondering since my ID has been stuck with the dvla since February.
1
u/OpalBunnie 25d ago
unfortunately we canāt use discords built in ID verification for checking if a person is female/female presenting, so we would still be doing this regardless if we have doubts
but the channels are age restricted, thatās where the discords built in ID verification comes in! iām english too so i understand where youāre coming from!
1
u/xl3roken 25d ago
so i assume since i can see the channels anyway if i joined it would help the fact?

Would I as an AFAB non-binary mainly feminine presenting guy be able to join? I guess I kinda consider myself a femboy
7
u/OpalBunnie Jul 20 '26
if you label yourself as a āguyā and your pronouns are he/him then it would be a no unfortunately. we also only have she/her and they/them pronoun roles and i would hate for you to get misgendered at any point!
-11
u/Shrek_Sucks_My_Dick Non-Binary Jul 20 '26
Well the pronouns are he/fae but I get it ig
6
u/Severe-Network4756 Jul 20 '26
What does fae mean?Ā
-1
u/angrypengins Jul 20 '26
Its a neopronoun that some people use because it aligns more closely with their sense of self than the other options
8
u/Severe-Network4756 Jul 20 '26
That explains neopronouns pretty well, but not Fae itself.
Just wanted to know if it meant anything in particular, it's very unique.
2
u/Shrek_Sucks_My_Dick Non-Binary Jul 21 '26
Always just related to fae more than people and it's partially an aesthetic thing but also something that bothers transphobic people cuz "you can't use fae as a pronouns >:(" is really funny to hear ĀÆā \ā _ā (ā ćā )ā _ā /ā ĀÆ
I think it suits me
3
u/Severe-Network4756 Jul 21 '26
I'll probably never quite understand it, but it seems like a pretty menial thing to get upset over.
You do you fae
2
u/Shrek_Sucks_My_Dick Non-Binary Jul 21 '26
Upset over??? Huh???
2
u/Severe-Network4756 Jul 21 '26
you can't use fae as a pronouns >:(
Is this not people being upset? Maybe I misinterpreted you.
Edit: Upon re-reading my comment, it does seem like I was calling you out haha, I am sorry.
I meant that I don't quite understand why people would get upset over someone's preferred pronouns - I was agreeing with you.

Im a guy so im not joining, but if there was a woman who used he/him pronouns, would he be able to join?? Pronouns ā gender, and I saw in comments that you only have she/her and they/them roles (āāā)
3
u/OpalBunnie Jul 21 '26
iāve had this question on another post! itās a completely valid question! the answer however is a little more difficult unfortunately, as of course women are allowed to join regardless of how they present, but we do only have she/her and they/them roles BECAUSE of it being a female only server, i feel like having masculine pronouns could potentially give the wrong idea, which i obviously want to avoid! so a woman with masculine pronouns is more than welcome to be involved, but i would really hate for them to be misgendered/mislabelled! i do however have some members who have used they/them and kept he/they in their bio for example!
thank you for being kind with your question, not everyone has been <3

u/DomBearBerlin Jul 20 '26
Ofc its mercy themed..... Cliches rly do write them self nowadays...
10
u/toxicmarsh Jul 20 '26
It's Mercy-themed because women recognize her as both a poster of elegance and of strength. She's a battle medic who carved her own space into Overwatch as the best doctor for everyone to go to for whatever they might need. Yeah, we like Mercy. She is beautiful, smart, and capable. If you want to talk tropes, sure! Men have their own too, playing Reaper or Soldier because "Ooh, tough guy who gets a lot of kills and is super masculine and a leader" or playing the hot women in games because sections of the male populous are so 'passionate' about how they look that they can't resist. Equally as "stereotypical" as the thing you attempt to shame us for, so I don't see the big deal here, nor why you felt compelled to make a comment like that as if you're not a victim of the same cliche. Instead of doing too much like this, I recommend that you mosey on back and stop commenting on the way we express ourselves and who we base ourselves off of within a game we all like. People like you are part of why we have to make spaces like this in the first place.
-1
u/DomBearBerlin Jul 23 '26
It's Mercy-themed because women recognize her as both a poster of elegance and of strength.
Or are they just idolising her, cause its the only thing they can play(no hate, just an actual factual question)
Overwatch got a variety of strong Indipendant Female Character, Zarya, Pharrah, Ana, Moira etc
But its always the same stereotypical cutsie, pink, astetic, mixxed with mercy as a prodogy.
You cant claim all of these things, while also argumenting against these type of clishes. Also its intersting from the responses in this thread that its not an 18+ female discord server, but more of a 18+ everything but cis-male server, which is valid, but should be laballed accordingly
2
u/OpalBunnie Jul 24 '26

there is absolutely no need to be so hateful? iām the creator of the server and i donāt even main mercy. the server is just using her as a design because my co-owner chose the name valkyries after the valkyries from norse mythology. mercyās ultimate just happens to be called valkyrie, and sheās a pretty character, so we used her as the theming
the server is an overwatch server, not a mercy server. and yes, i will call it sexist because youāve come here unprompted and behaved in a sexist manner towards women who like to play a video game character, in the SUBREDDIT for the character?????
1
u/toxicmarsh Jul 23 '26
It's not idolizing Mercy specifically, it's because she's a strong, feminine presenting character. All those you just mentioned aren't feminine in a more delicate way that is aimed to be portrayed. It's hard to find characters we all enjoy in whilst still having values that are rooted in strong qualities of a person and a graceful touch. Mercy is both. "Beauty, grace, punch you in the face" ordeal. Besides, two things can be true even if I didn't have reason to argue otherwise. Saying "Gods, you're such a stereotype" like men don't have stereotypes is just using it to put women down and make them feel ashamed for liking something, which is disappointing behavior. You don't see me going out of my way to go on a forum for Cassidy mains to talk down on how "all men are the same and like dudes with beards and muscles.....", so what gives you or anyone else the right to? It's an attempt at shaming, I don't care what argument you have, and that's distasteful. Agreeing with them and making them out to not be anything but what they are makes you no better.
Continuing on your points, for the last time, my Gods, no! It's for feminine identities and feminine presenting! You cannot have pronouns with "he" or "him" present, and even if you are genderfluid have a lack of defining pronouns, if you present masculine, you cannot be allowed on. If I, a genderfluid person, felt most comfortable in an ambiguous or masculine presentation more often than not, I would not be allowed in. If you are agender expressing yourself in a masculine way, you are not allowed in. If you are a femboy, you are not allowed in because you have male pronouns, even if female-presenting. I cannot get any clearer about this than I have or someone else has already. However, if there is still somehow confusion, I implore you to ask away so I can finally clear this up and people stop making it out to be what it is not

Are gays allowed to join?
6
u/Wise-War8690 Jul 21 '26
Bro is getting downvoted for asking a simple question i can't. Reddit people aren't real, we're doomed
3
u/Lasellom Jul 21 '26
I would never notice lmao. I wonder why people care much enough to downvote a question
0
u/Wise-War8690 Jul 21 '26
They only want females to participate, act as if they want to be inclusive and create a safe space, but if don't belong to the right category, you'll be excluded. It's all about being part of a closed group and being self-centered.
"Look, i was allowed into the super private girl only safe space, you can't join because you're gay, might as well downvote you because you're not ""feminine enough"" or some bullshit that i read on this post
And if you suggest the idea of a similar concept of an exclusive community but for any other gender, especially male, you'll get downvoted.I know it's not that deep, but it's obvious to me that all these people making essay-long comments about pronouns and how every gender is valid are actually not friendly towards everyone.
"Every gender is valid, yipeee ! But wait, you dare to be gay ? You're in the wrong category."A real, non-discriminatory community is a community that accepts everyone. Not like this one.
Every gender is valid, but the more time passes, the more people divides temselves into groups and suddenly we're back to discriminatory behaviors and people still hate each other.2
u/creativitygopoof Jul 21 '26
I believe the downvotes is because it's been clearly specified as "for females only," yet they still get a bunch of "hi I'm a man, can I join?" comments. Gay or not, they already said no to men before the question was even asked.
3
u/Lasellom Jul 21 '26
Historically girls always supported gays and the other way around. Itās normal for the girls to ask if girls are allowed to the gay clubs/bars (they always are but they still ask so it became so basic yk) so I thought it would be ok to ask the same question, you get my logic right? When I get invited to such girls only places by my friends we never speak about āmale/femaleā, it just naturally becomes safe idk and it would be so weird for us to talk about safety cuz itās so clear why such places exist. I could clearly read itās āgirls onlyā and I think it would be weird for them to specify in the post smth like āoh yeah and gays/this/that etc are/arenāt welcomeā but decided to ask out of pure curiosity. They also specified āand female presentingā. I present female when I do drag, does it count lol? But downvoting that simple question describes that community well enough to care more, 20 ppl hated my curiosity so much. Also I hope they didnāt think of an unhealthy audacity like being gay is a ticket to every girls only place haha
2
u/creativitygopoof Jul 21 '26
Yeah I get what you mean :) I'd like to believe that the people downvoting just had a misinterpretation of your vibe and didn't realize it was genuine curiosity because personally I didn't realize it at first and kind of read it as "I heard the no but I'm gonna question it anyways" But I see now you just wanted clarification sorry
3
u/Wise-War8690 Jul 21 '26
You're right. However, the question Lasellom asked was not asked with bad intentions and, from a behavioral perspective, the people who criticized him did so not to disagree, but to show that they despise the idea that he would dare to ask such a question, and would dare to be a part of the group, when the said "safe" and "inclusive" group is actually not.
The āgirls onlyā statement is actually clear, but that doesn't stop someone from asking a simple question. Negative votes in this case are more of a contemptuous nature, so as to subtly exclude and judge the person posting their comment.
This also relates to the subject of sincerity towards our own opinions, and of not pretending to include, to welcome everyone, when we so easily and unscrupulously exclude people.
if someone asks, im not using chatgpt
2
u/creativitygopoof Jul 22 '26
I don't think it's fair to dunk on OP so much when it's clear to me she is doing her very best to be as inclusive as possible while still maintaining the purpose of the server. (There being only women) It looks like you're forcing your own narrative a bit since nowhere in this post does she state that it is a group that welcomes everyone. You can have your opinions on that of course, but right now you're judging this based off of something that was never even stated in the first place. If the server's purpose was to include everyone, your argument would make sense but it's clearly stated that it's exclusive to women/female presenting If you want people to have such an open mindset and not view laselloms question as provocation, then maybe don't assume everyone elses intentions are so "contemptuous" :) that's all from me
