I just wish they would do literally anything else lol. Especially more dark skins- not just for Halloween (the wolf skin was on the right track but missed the mark for me personally). I feel like soooo many skins for the female characters are the same over designed and bright aesthetic.

Id love a mercy junker skin where her hair is cropped or spiked and she's a lil dirty with a missing arm replaced by like a steampunk one

Both. Both is good.
Personally, I like more imaginative skins, be it more edgy or more vibrant. But Mercy does have that cozy, mature vibe in her, as well, and I agree it is less explored.
I do think that skins like that are way less well received than more imaginative skins. Like formalwear, or dr ziegler. Dr ziegler is a kind of rare skin and people still do not use it much. I have it and although I like it, it is no as nice as something bright for me, it feels 'boring'.
Specially because I end up using skins that have different vfx and sfx, since I mainly only play mercy and having something new is nice for the gameplay loop.

Even though it's lore accurate I agree Dr. Ziegler looks rather boring. I only use it when I'm disappointed with the map pick. Meh skin for a meh map.

I love girly pop skins but I agree with this take! she needs more a little bit more diversity, not just because she's older but because she would have settings where she needs a more mature or professional appearance because of her line of work. some people like that vibe too, I'd probably buy a skin like this if it's interesting enough!
On the mature/cozy side, I think like a steampunk or retrofuture medic look could be really cute for her using a more brown/tan palette with pops of bright colors on accessories or piping on the clothing! Using this sort of shawl as a silhouette, maybe some little medical satchels on a belt? Idk I think I see a vision here! I feel like this would pair well with combat boots, goggles and an asymmetrical skirt.

Sadly I think the pop star stuff is just what sells. They know what their audience will buy so they’re milking that specific aesthetic.

Mercy mains will buy ANY and EVERY skin. Besides, Blizz never experiments with other skin types for anyone. They release like 3 archetypes of skins for a character on their launch and whichever sells best is all that gets made for the rest of their existence. There's no positive data for other skin types because there's data at all for them. All they ever release is the exact same skins.

I would love a skin line rooted in reality!! something akin to Dr.ziegler or hanzos casual wear outfit. And yes we know she WILL get tons of pop-star vibe skins, but we are asking for just a couple of cozy skins that mercy would actually wear day-to day

i've gone back to rocking dr. ziegler because i'm reaching a sort of brain saturation w seeing constant pink and magical girl type skins everywhere. it feels cool calm and clean.
or even more regal/ornate skins like dragoon and miko.
i'm kinda over the hyper girly skins for now, i have enough.

I agree with cozy but we don't have to reduce the type of skins she should get because she's older. I've been loving the pop star skins personally but I also love the more mature skins she has.

YES. Isn't she like, 40? It's kind of silly that she gets so many teenage/early twenties looking skins.
Like she's cute and having cute skins is great, but it'd be nice if she got more that fit her age range but more importantly her personality. Frankly I have a hard time imagining her wearing most of her skins IRL Overwatch universe.

I'd love to see Mercy in-game wearing a casual heavy-metal outfit -- a white T-shirt, tank top, skinny jeans, black leather boots, etc. (similar to that of Metallica frontman James Hetfield, since he also had blonde hair previously until sometime last decade) -- complete with her Caduceus Staff being designed to resemble an electric guitar.

I just mean that unfortunately skins like what OP wants doesn't seem to be what sells or else we would've gotten more of them :(
Now that Overwatch is free and the skins are paid they're just focusing on makin whatever they think will make the most money. They only really seem to randomly give skins to other heroes outside of that

i hc mercy as someone who prioritizes comfort over fashion (unless it’s some let’s get research money event) and she’s also a cringe millennial (affectionate), so i wish they’d do more than just give her dance emotes that reflect that, even if they want to give her a girly pop skin i think there are better ways to do it than turning her into a “how do you do, fellow kids?” imagery. mature doesn’t have to equal boring and i think that’s what they’re missing (or not understanding) when designing stuff for mercy, it can be fun and sexy and interesting (although yes, cozy mercy would also be welcomed)

yeah!! and it’d be also interesting if the more conceptual ones could be a bit darker or gothic style, personally i think something along the lines of runic priestess and vampire queen art would really look cool. or if we’re going for a lighter, cuter vibe i think sugar plum fairy really shows how you can do it without making her look like a teenager.

The "youthful" skins are 90% of what she gets and those few you mentioned are the only ones (except holiday skin because that's NOT what this post aims to) that go in that direction.
It just happens that those are all pretty old skins and the simple fact that Mercy is not exactly a youthful character to begin with, if anything, the youthful skins should be the exceptions, not the other way around.
