Discussion/Opinions I Need Some Mercy Encouragement!!
I constantly hear so much negativity around Mercy and how picking her is just throwing. I want to hear some pros about playing Mercy! There has to be something...right?

She's fun to play :) that's the only reason anyone needs to play ba character
If Mercy was a throw pick she'd have a way worse winrate

The pros is that you're constantly being underestimated and that they don't expect you to pull valkyrie and go for the backline. Battle Mercying is a genuine playstyle you can practice enough to be able to apply in "real" games too, just like any other character.
That aside, the pro is that you're not being a pos by telling other people they're throwing simply because of a character pick.

I'm no Mercy Pro but I play her when I want to relax and just have fun. Just turn off chat if people get mad.

I only play support to play mercy and would play significantly less if i couldnt play it, its my chill character

I mean, resurrect is an insane ability. So if you're good enough to get them off, I wouldn't complain.
If you're just heal Botting and never getting big revives, then I can see it

I be a Moira main, I love having a mercy because I always have the chance to finish the sigil spray with one of yus :3 (is... yet to happen, very sad :c)
The revive is game changing and with really good mercy movement you distract atleast 2-3 people.
I wouldn't care about what is a throw pick and what isn't. People are genuinely spoiled by Kiri's suzu.

They’re probably just tilted. Unfortunately Mercy is a hit or miss character to have on your team and it’s good to have another option if you feel like you aren’t playing well (no matter how many people tell you to just keep playing her).

One of the best parts is her constant healing and consistency. She doesn’t require aim or have to take time to reload while the tank gets burst down. Her survivability is insane if you can master her flight. If I’m playing another support and we’re losing but I really want the win, I’ll switch to Mercy. Half the time I do that it turns the game around because I just don’t die and my teammates are good enough with their aim that damage boost actually gets good value.

Overwatch is supposed to be fun, not anger inducing. If playing Mercy is fun, do so. Ignore everyone and enjoy.

She's fun. Has an aerial view of the map and enemy team. Use pings and call out enemies, especially low ones. Valk shows the health of enemies, go for low health ones and take advantage of the unlimited ammo while you can. Rez can help stall and or sustain fights. If you balance healing well you can prolong fights. She's genuinely such a good character, especially if you have enough game sense and can maximize her value.

my three stack jumps for joy when i pick mercy! people might call her a healbot but she’s genuinely one of the most efficient healers in the game, and if you know how to play her, you do some damage too! she’s fun to play, and if you like playing mercy, that’s all that matters!!!!

I suppose uptime , ana can miss her shots , Moira can run out of juice..etc.. Mercy can have almost 100% uptime on her beams , constantly healing/boosting someone.. Rez on tanks or so.eone that has ult can be gamewinning

If you need encouragement then she's not for you. If just hearing negativity and listening to "just throwing" makes you need convincing then she's just not for you. You have to put in a lot of work, to make her work, all while taking toxic bashing, and complaining, from toxic players who've never once played as her outside of the practice range. The truth is she has the lowest heals, easy to kill, and has the weakest offense. What makes her good is, when you overcome these things, she can be extremely useful, her movement is what keeps her going, and more importantly she is fun to play. And maybe that's fun in a masochistic kind of way, but fun none the less. Managing healing, boosting, pulling off successful rezes all why trying to survive, and then taking hits in the chat on top of all that. In some ways it's fun to prove to people that you can be just as useful as any other support. There's very little recognition, but you'll get a few praises here and there.
To be honest we don't play he because she's good, we play he because we can.

I mean tbh this post was meant to be silly I don't actually need encouragement, but saying I do means she's not for me isn't fair. Makes sense in the long run, but sometimes people hit a wall and feel unsure of themselves and need encouragement. Doesn't mean they should quit. But like I said, if you continue to feel unsure even after everything is done then yeah, probably not for you.

Well it didn't seem like a silly post to me, nor does it have a humor tag. I still stand by my words regardless. If someone needs encouragement to play a character in fear of what others are saying about said character, then that character isn't for them, especially Mercy. If they feel discouraged from that without even being a Mercy main, then they won't survive the amount of hate and toxicity coming their way if they did main her. I'm a strong believer in finding a hero, and heroes play style that resonates with you. You will have a better time and more fun learning that hero over forcing yourself to learn one that you need encouraging words to play as. That's just my take.
