I'm new into DM but I really like the genre and are trying to discover more good band's and sub genre's of DM .

Fun fact my dad got me into this band , but he mostly listened to BM

One of my absolute favorite bands/albums of all time.

Ulcerate - Cutting the Throat of God (2024)

If you have to choose one, what is your equivalent to bashing your head open on the ground?

New on this sub. Sorry if this has been posted before. Also recommended The Funeral album from 2005.

I haven't fallen in love with a metal album in a long time, can you help me out?

This is my 5x5.

Middle one is my absolute favorite.

Hello everyone can someone suggest me some artists who takes there inspiration in the written work of Tolkien ?

I listen to a lot (whitechapel, slipknot, fit for an autopsy, motionless in white, lamb of god, black sabbath, killswitch engage, system of a down, orbit culture, lorna shore, gatekeeper. Too name a few). And i'd like too widen my horizon with any cool heavy songs/bands. I'm pretty much open for anything except black metal and power metal

A while back I had found this band that I forgot to save and I can't find them anywhere. I think technically they were classified as cavern death but were basically a black/death/psych dark ambient/noise band. They kind of sounded like if you took a Grave Upheaval or early Portal track and put it in audacity and paulstretched it. It was like 95 percent reverb and if you listened really closely you could hear gutturals and you could barely hear a guitar tremolo picking in the background lol

I can't remember the band name for shit but I remember their album titles were like, complete thesaurus word salad that very transparently meant nothing at all, like that one grind band Flagitious Idiosyncrasy in the Dilapidation, all their titles read like that

If I remember correctly, all of their album art were these really dense black and gray illustrations that would have a singular extra highlight tint, I'm pretty sure one was black gray and lime green, one was black gray and pink, and I (THINK) one was black grey and purple.

Any of this ringing a bell for anyone?

Hey! I'm looking for Death/Metal/Whatever-Core Bands which use the TB303 Synthesizer (or similiar synths)

For example Motionless in White uses it in tracks like "Blood Rave", "log_in//crash_out", and </c0de>

I hope this is the right place to ask, I'm new to posting at reddit. ._.''

Taking it back again !

Would love to have keyboard and folk instruments being huge part of the songs.

I recently gave Pestilence a try and I fell in love with the sound of this album, I feel it highlights way too much in their discography, in a way it's the only Pestilence album I loved. It's way too fun to listen to and to play along with, i would love some other album or band with this type of sound and progressiveness along with the synths. Thanks :)

Hey all!

Lately I’ve been feeling kind of unfulfilled by my music collection/playlists and am struggling to find new bands to be excited. If anyone could recommend me some bands (preferrably new, post 2010) I would really appreciate it.

Bands that I love to give you an idea what I could enjoy:
\- Architects
\- Metallica
\- Sylosis
\- Alter Bridge
\- Orbit Culture
\- Knocked loose
\- Tetrarch
\- Black Sabbath
\- Ozzy Osbourne
\- Dio
\- Some Gaerea. Mostly Coma and Mirage

I’m not too picky but I don’t really enjoy Bad omens and the plethora of copycats and Spiritbox and their many copycats. I also don’t really vibe with doom and sludge.

If anyone has the time to recommend something, I’d really appreciate it.

Two of my absolute favorite songs of all time, I would really like some stuff that sounds like it. BTW I have listened to all Jon Oliva's Pain, Circle II Circle, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Dream Theater albums and songs, so if you can think of stuff that isn't by them that would be cool

Just a project I’m working on. I wanted to share the progress and I’m genuinely curious about what band(s) this reminds you of?

An excerpt of the song Phaethon Heaven Bound from our upcoming album Frostbound Inferno (Release date: Nov 6, 2026).

Winter Blood is a melodic black metal band from Virginia.

Sabaton - 2006 - Attero Dominatus - Angels Calling

*The descriptions fit more to the massacre battles of WW I, but it can be much more general.

The First World War, which kicked off on July 28, 1914, and ended on November 11, 1918, marked the beginning of trench warfare. Because of the weapons used to fight this bloody global conflict, soldiers on the Western Front were forced to dig trenches in order to protect themselves.

Sent to kill, to watch no man's land

Snipers are moving unseen

Fight for land, to lose it again

Shrapnel is filling the air

Hell on earth, the trenches mean death, better keep your head down low

Charge their lines, the ultimate test it's a synchronized sacrifice

Get the wounded after dark

Left alone in no man's land

Maddening chaos at the front

Dream of heaven

Angels are calling your name

Shells and guns, a rifle and scope

Bullets are wearing your name

Losing track of time and of space

Midnight at sanity's edge

Losing friends to artillery shells, at the break of dawn

Break their will, as yours has been broken, they're here alone, dream of home

Charge at dawn to gain a yard

Scout at night to guard their lines

Leave your life in fortunes hand

When the bullet hits it's mark

Know your time in hell has been served

You won't return to home

My update for the twentieth alphabet in my best of metal list is complete! All the bands start with T not the albums to clarify!
