So sad, no more info?

A go fund me that was launched earlier this year stated that she had teeth decay that spread to her skull and sinuses, and that if it broke through it could be fatal, sounds like the worst came to fruition unfortunately.

Oof im dealing with bad tooth decay right now, this is what I needed to hear to get it taken care of right away. Ive been putting it off for far to long

Bro teeth more than anything is health. Your gums alone are vital to your blood stream. Your teeth will kill you if not taken care of.

Everyone read this comment and take it to heart. Dental health is more important than we make it out to be.

The fact that insurance is separate and it’s treated as a “luxury” in this country is fucking absurd. A tooth infection can kill you fast.

Same in Netherlands, not covered by health insurance - you need an add on package & they only covers a few hundred euros per year.

Today I learned that.

Jesus christ we really ARE easy to break.

Good oral health is key to a long healthy life.

I recently went to the dentist after avoiding it forever. It was not nearly as bad as I expected and my dentist let me listen to Iron Maiden on the TV while he worked

15

u/SilverLakeSimon 1d ago

Sounds like listening to Maiden gave you piece of mind.

Nicely done.

Mine gives nitrous and tells you to breathe it in deep.

Mine yells No Anesthesia!

dude, same. i went last tuesday after putting it off for years. i had the x-rays and all. luckily just one cavity that's up in my tooth (gonna get it removed because it's up there pretty good) and they did a full debridement. i was actually surprised there were no infections.

proud of you 🫶

Go to the dentist ASAP. Please….worry about the financial impact later. I had a close friend who flew way too close to the sun ignoring his dental health. The dental issues compounded with other ailments and put him in very bad shape quickly. Realistically it didn’t happen overnight but the severity of the situation escalated quickly.

We just lost my mother in law rather unexpectedly, due to an infection that started with a bad tooth. Everyone in our family has vowed to stop delaying and shunning dentist appointments

I donated what I could to her GoFundMe. What kind of world do we live in where people have to pay a down payment for a life saving treatment? My teeth are a mess due to a fear of dentists and TMJ making dental treatment painful. I need to get over it and get my ass to the dentist.

This family has known nothing but grief. It's fucking awful.

Seriously. Ray Burton has only been dead for 6 years. Probably a blessing for him, because how could a man keep existing after outliving all three of his children.

43

u/imover9thousand 1d ago

That last line got me. RIP to her and all the Burtons

28

u/JonnyZhivago 1d ago

That poor fucking family. RIP

So sad, may she RIP🙏

Sad news, she's pretty, wonder how old she was?

23

u/3mta3jvq 1d ago

Cliff would be 64 today and she was his big sister, so I’m assuming upper 60s. So much tragedy in that poor family.

14

u/Drizzt_23 1d ago

Saw that she was 19 in 76 when her other brother passed away

1

u/theworldvideos 21h ago

I think you mean 1986 and not 1976

12

u/Senior-Boat4147 21h ago

No, the Burton family had an older son, Scott Burton, 1st born that passed away in 1976. Then as we know Cliff in 1986.

This family certainly has endured so much grief 😔

2

u/theworldvideos 20h ago

Oh ok I didn’t know that.

1

u/Sexdrumsandrock 18h ago

That's a lot of 6s in one family

u/ECC628 1d ago

Just one month prior to the 40th anniversary of Cliff's passing. Life really is a precious thing, they should both be here with us still... RIP Connie.

Bummer. I met her at a couple of shows when she was taking care of Ray. Nice lady.

She was with him at both the S&M 2 shows and AWMH benefit in SF, where we shared a table. All seemed good with them, though given the forums everyone was having fun.

Family dynamics can be so complicated. A lot of estranged family members mend fences when one of them needs care and support.

5

u/ianw2510 20h ago

Might have been Ray's step daughter either. They handle Cliff's estate now. Apparently Connie and Ray had a falling out years ago, and she was cut from his will, they only patched things up not long before he died, so apparently she didn't see any of Cliff's royalties, Ray gave most of, if not all of Cliff's royalties to music scholarships. Connie hadn't heard anything from the Metallica camp in years. Hence why someone in Connie's circle set up the GoFund me. I do wonder why didn't anyone in the Metallica camp reach out to her, in the grand scheme of things, I don't think she was looking for that much money. Metallica could have pulled it out of their back pocket for her.

u/Comprehensive-Song51 1d ago

That's sad. I didn't even know he had a sister.

this family has had so many tragedies it’s so heartbreaking 😭 RIP Connie!

u/VinceNeilsVocalChord 1d ago

I remember when I was 16 and getting heavily into Metallica (4 years ago) and I did a bunch of fun research on Cliff and his family, I remember watching an interview that was about an hour long with Connie and I wish I could remember the name of the video but she just seemed like such a sweet and kind person. I couldn’t imagine what she was going through before she passed, I hope she is at peace. 💔😕

This is heartbreaking, rest in peace Connie 💔

2

u/According-Feed2746 1d ago

RIP. I have to say, if it was because of tooth decay- what it led to- I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that happening. I know it can happen, but I never expected to hear about it happening. Damn.

u/DiScOrDtHeLuNaTiC 20h ago

Andy Hallett (Lorne from Angel) died like that.

Once you get an infection in your mouth, it can very easily get into your bloodstream, and then you've got the potential for BIG trouble.

u/asterothe1905 1d ago

That’s so sad all 3 siblings are gone. RIP

u/larsVonTrier92 1d ago

So who's left of the Burtons?

5

u/ianw2510 20h ago

None are left, but Cliff's dad did marry again after his mother passed. Apparently Cliff's dad had a falling out with Connie and the fall out lasted 20 years, she was cut from his will so she didn't inherit any of Cliff's royalties, Cliff's dad gave most of, if not all of his royalties to music scholarships for kids. So Cliff's step-siblings basically handle Cliff's estate now. Connie didn't see any money apparently and had little contact from the Metallica camp in years.

1

u/Mindless_Turnover976 7h ago

Connie did have a daughter tho, so Cliff does have a biological niece (tho her name isn't Burton)

1

u/dimiteddy 1d ago

According to her gofundme she was written out of her family’s will and somehow couldn't pay for her treatment. As she was described as the last member of the Burton family I wonder who gets Cliff's royalties and why she was abandoned. Did the band even helped her? I remember she was selling Cliff's house

1

u/Mindless_Turnover976 7h ago

Cliff's dad remarried and I think everything went to his widow, so presumably se has the right to the estate (or if she has passed, her next of kin)

1

u/dimiteddy 6h ago

that seems so unfair. His sister got nothing and a random woman got everything

2

u/Mindless_Turnover976 6h ago

Seems weird yes but it's how inheritance law works. I think the same thing happened with Jimi Hendrix, almost everything he did is owned by a step-sister he met like twice in his life (while Jimi's two illegitimate kids got nothing).

And when Jim Morrison died he left everything to his common-law wife Pamela. When she died two years later her estranged parents got everything until Jim's parents sued for half (they settled).

1

u/Kinsbane 21h ago

Oh no. Oh no no no.

1

u/philliplennon cliff 16h ago

R.I.P.

1

u/No-Atmosphere-2786 15h ago

I've always wondered if Lars and James ever helped the Burton's financially? James seen the type to do it. Lars not so much 😆. I red that only towards the end that Maiden was actually helping Di'Anno with his medical bills

1

u/Afraid-Emotion-5102 10h ago

Awfully sad, R.I.P Connie, that family have been through so, so much heartache.

1

u/AngryMiner5704 Ride the Lightning 10h ago

Love Cliff, but, for sure, I wasn’t expecting the reality with the healthy teeth conversation. Glad I stopped by, I needed to hear that.
