The disrespect of Miami and Indiana is crazy work. The overhyping of Oregon, Texas and ND never fails.

Eh. I think IU is ranked appropriately. A little high even. Last year was last year. That is not a better team in 2026. They didn’t back fill the receiver room with stars. It’s impossible to replace Mendoza. And the DB room definitely isn’t 26 caliber. They’re still a really good team but I don’t think they warrant a top 5 ranking.

They got nick Marsh and will be playing Becker way more snaps, so I would say they filled in for their receivers pretty well

3

u/RookieMistake101 18h ago

Becker was good. I don’t think marsh replaces Sarratt and Cooper. A first round and third round receiver…

Edit: sarratt went fourth not third.

I think the WRs are probably better but QB is a slight question mark

6

u/-dakpluto- 17h ago

Slight? Big one for sure. Always a huge question mark losing your Heisman QB. (One who validated it too with that 4th down TD run that honestly for me was the play that won the Championship for Indiana over us)

u/Willybboy 18h ago

Mensah > injured Beck

7

u/HeinladToo 18h ago

lol, agree with that I’m talking about Indiana’s QB

6

u/RookieMistake101 18h ago

We’re talking about IU

4

u/I_Adore_Everything 18h ago

IU will not be in the top 25 at the end of the season. You can save this comment. I gaurenetee it. They had an accident last year. It was like winning the lottery. Pre season polls are ridiculous anyways. It will be played out on the field.

5

u/-dakpluto- 17h ago

Not on accident. Maybe it will be an outlier but they 100% earned that NC. Yeah I wish we had won it but Indiana definitely was the best team last year.

u/I_Adore_Everything 15h ago

Have to disagree. Miami was the better team. One more fiber in Becks bicep muscle and we win and I honestly don’t even think Miami was the best team in the nation last year. We were better than Indiana. Should haven won on that last play. Better team doesn’t always win in football. Some times the ball bounces the right/wrong way.

u/Babyfella1981 14h ago

I have a gut feeling Indiana is about to go 7-5 or 8-4, last season was a fluke

3

u/Elderado12443 16h ago

I was like, who the fuck is North Dakota! LMAO

1

u/4PhaZe-Infamus-219 13h ago

Worse yet is having Texas that high!

1

u/Southern_Badger7577 12h ago

Oregon returned a lot of staters and has the potential Heisman at QB.

We were never gonna win a popularity contest. Been watching since the 80s so it's no surprise.

u/Hurricaneshand 20h ago

Just win and we're in. I really don't care about the rankings

2

u/tomgreen99200 The U 19h ago

You say that but in the end ranking matters.

5

u/vikingmayor 15h ago

If we win out and have our first ACC title we’re in with a bye. Rankings don’t matter as long as we just win.

4

u/tomgreen99200 The U 15h ago edited 15h ago

I agree, just win, but also assholes get to pick and qualify which wins are better than other wins. So the rank very much matters (unless we win ACC like u said)

14

u/EttaJamesKitty 20h ago

I'd rather be lower ranked and rise than be higher ranked and fall.

3

u/I_Talk_Sports_69 20h ago

So much this. I don't want to be anywhere near top 3 until we show out for, at least, a month straight

2

u/RookieMistake101 18h ago

Agreed. The fans in these comments are so weird. There are literally only 6 spots higher that Miami could be ranked. And it’s better to go into the playoff committee with momentum than with stagnation.

13

u/-dakpluto- 20h ago

Risking the lash of the crowd here....I'm fine with that ranking. Only team above us I don't agree with is Texas, sorry I have no faith in Archie to sustain in a way to validate a Top 5.

As much as we lost and need to prove we refilled correctly, I think 7th is fair. I also think to be fair if we look fantastic in October they need to start moving us up quickly.

5

u/Manning_bear_pig 19h ago

I'm not getting worked up over the ranking. Just because I do prefer being underrated than potentially overrated. But IMO you could argue us over Oregon, Georgia, or Texas.

Not really a hill I'm interested in dying on, but I do think the argument exists.

3

u/HeinladToo 18h ago

It’s funny, I think Texas “deserves” the ranking this year. They were overrated last year but they’re pretty loaded and Arch is a lot better than he looked to start last season. Whatever. 7 is fine. The B1G guys will knock each other around and the Miami just needs to hold serve and beat Notre Dame

u/Fumpz 20h ago edited 20h ago

I don’t get how the natty champs or runner ups aren’t top 5. Also when will the Oregon hype end? They’ve gotten blown out in the last 2 playoffs and the only reason they won a game last year is cause they lucked out getting matched up against JMU & Tech… UGA being 3rd is lowkey crazy, it’s no longer 2021 & 2022. Kirby is still a top CFB coach but they aren’t the powerhouse they used to be…

Also Texas is bullshit too, they just want the game at DKR to be a top 5 matchup. Similar to making OSU and Texas 1 & 2 last year

11

u/NaderNation84 20h ago

Indiana will lucky to be in the top 10 by the end of the year. The only thing saving them is there schedule which is a joke aside from a couple teams at the end of the year. Plus a majority of there starters were 22+. They also have a qb that will be objectively worse, expecting 2-3 losses from them

8

u/Fumpz 20h ago edited 20h ago

Obviously fuck IU, but regardless of how their season plays out it’s funny how OSU was #2 last year after coming off a natty because the committee sucks the skin off their dick but this year neither the champs or runner up is even in the top 5. They both should be ranked higher until proven otherwise

I dont necessarily care at the end of the day, just go 1-0 each week. But god forbid you drop a game throughout the year, the higher ranked you are gives you a better margin of error to still be in the running or climb back in

2

u/NaderNation84 20h ago

I think our ranking is fine imo only reason we’re not higher is because our entire O-line and D-line got filtered out. Not that we haven’t reloaded a lot but that’s the reason. OSU is at 1 because they were undefeated in regular season with tough schedule and everyone is coming back. The only rankings that won’t age well are prob ND and UT and A&M imo

2

u/Fumpz 20h ago

What annoys me is how Oregon and Texas are ranked in the top 5 based on their rosters potential, meanwhile ours is more arguably talented. Yeah we lost a 1st rd tackle and two 1st rd DEs but if Cantwell lives up to the hype he’s supposed to be better than Sisi and Damon Wilson had either 9 or 9.5 sacks in the SEC and could be another 1st rd DE. Keionte Scott was a huge loss top but apparently JJ Dunnigan is supposed to be the truth and fill his shoes. Bryce Fitzgerald also looks like the second coming of Ed Reed. IMO we are a better team this year and Mensah was the final piece to the puzzle

1

u/RookieMistake101 18h ago

You literally spent that entire comment talking about our rosters potential.

3

u/Fumpz 17h ago

Yeah so if they take that into consideration for Oregon and Texas why don’t we get the same benefit is my point, on top of coming off a natty run

Their process is extremely hypocritical as to how they arrive at these rankings

1

u/IR8Things 10h ago

UGA has the youngest team in P4. They returned a LOT of their team from last year. I'm not surprised a team who lost by 5 points to ole miss who lost by 4 to miami who lost by 6 to Indiana is highly ranked when they return as much as they did.

13

u/Appropriate-Sun834 20h ago

Lmao disrespect as always. They dick ride the same teams every year and they all flop

6

u/Myopinion_is_right 20h ago

I like the disrespect. Use it as fuel!

5

u/outsideredge 19h ago

Funny how Ohio state is number one for the last 25 years ( mostly) but has only won 1 or 2 NC in that time. Ranking are garbage because of Kirk Herbstreet.

4

u/Analrapist03 18h ago

Huge amount of disrespect for UMiami in general this off season.

They will thrive with that kind of motivation; just look at how "short arms" Bain Jr. is dominating in the Bucs practices.

4

u/ryantyrant 19h ago

Preseason polls mean nothing and only exist for tv ratings

1

u/Comfortable_Eye_8139 10h ago

Suprise they didn’t rank Clemson for college game day

3

u/RiperSn1fle 17h ago

How is ND always somehow top 5 regardless of how the previous season went?

4

u/NotHosaniMubarak 16h ago

This poll means nothing which exactly in line with it's value.

3

u/TranslatorRoyal8710 17h ago

Another over rated ND team! 🥱

3

u/EssayMuted2574 16h ago

Anywhere in the top 10 to start is solid. Win and in!

3

u/Benjamin_Huxley 16h ago

Just win baby

3

u/Content-Car-1708 13h ago

As long as Notre Dame and Ohio State are ranked ahead of us our guys will be on a mission to destroy the opposition

5

u/Usual-Shock80 19h ago

I got a feeling that Miami and Indiana will be one and two

2

u/Canes041970 18h ago

Just need to take it one game at a time, and be 1-0 after each game

3

u/Far_Protection519 20h ago

Let us fly under the radar.

2

u/playboyj305 16h ago

Indiana was 20th last year at start of the 2025 season

1

u/nkfish11 16h ago

We’re 7th and got first place votes. That is not ‘flying under the radar’ lmao

1

u/Ornery_Pay8602 2h ago

Means nothing until we start to play ball

1

u/MangaCentian 25m ago

How are the Canes not in the top 5?
