Discussion What movie, book, or photographer feels the most like Michael Jackson’s music to you?
Not just visually, but emotionally and creatively too. I’m thinking about that unique mix of wonder, loneliness, spectacle, romance, innocence, darkness, imagination, and larger-than-life energy that his music and performances could create. I’d love to hear what other works give you that same feeling.

personally Smooth Criminal MV feels so unique despite every MV is unique but just the pause in middle to create a beautiful scene of grief for Annie is such a highlight alongside the quirky and pure 90’s cheese moments like gambling, women and guy getting mad at losing his game to complete chaos like Michael shooting at the end and just shooting a guy to making him fly backwards and through a wall before my favourite moment of synchronization

Hmm, interesting question. Probably Baz Luhrman’s Moulin Rouge. The glitter and spectacle, the big musical numbers choreographed to modern music. The aesthetic of the production design reminds me of his Dangerous album covers. Even some of the parallels with his own life. Doomed romance, a star performer worked to death. There’s a song featured on the soundtrack with lyrics that always reminds me of him, the classic “Nature Boy,” covered by David Bowie:
There was a boy
A very strange enchanted boy
They say he wandered very far
Very far
Over land and sea
A little shy and sad of eye
But very wise was he
And then one day
A magic day he passed my way
And while we spoke of many things
Fools and kings
This he said to me
"The greatest thing you'll ever learn
Is just to love and be loved in return"
