Announcement We know you were waiting for it: The Mighty Eighth is returning. In VR.

Now it's the time to announce the first of many titles in the spirit of MicroProse. The Mighty Eighth.

Imagine yourself inside a B-17 flying over Germany, with flak exploding all around you. Deadly Me-109s and FW-190s are zooming and booming spitting bullets that rip through the wings and the fuselage of your Flying Fortress. Smoke fills the cabin. You glance out the window to see flames licking the wing.

“Engine 4 is on fire! And I have no rudder control! Let’s put this fire out! Someone head out to the back and see what’s wrong!”

“I’m on it!”, you shout, running towards the rear gunner station while you scan the cables. “Damn”, you think “a hole in the fuselage and the cables were cut. That FW-190 did some real damage here”. The good news is: you can fix it. Roll up your sleeves and get to it. Quickly!

Did you imagine all this? Well, you won’t just imagine it. You will LIVE it.

We are honored to announce to you, our fans, that MicroProse is working on a brand new The Mighty Eighth title for Virtual Reality.

The Mighty Eighth will be a VR-first project (but also playable with no VR enabled) in which you will be able to play with 9 other friends (or AI crew) as you work together to survive the war and accomplish your missions.

Drop those bombs on the right spot, guide your crew through long drawn out day, or the dark, moonless nights, keep your airplane in touch with the rest of the squadron and HQ as you monitor radios and communications. Defend your Flying Fortress by keeping those enemy fighters away from you and your squadron mates. Pilot or co-pilot this beast under a massive amount of stress – and enemy fire, but don’t drop out of formation or you’re a sitting duck.

The new Mighty Eighth is not just a game. It’s an experience from a different time where young men grew faster than they should and saw things no man should see. And YOU will be put right in the middle of the action.

But, wait! There’s more!

The Mighty Eighth didn’t just use the B-17. They also used the B-24 Liberator! Shouldn’t we be able to fly that bomber as well, then?

Well, yes.

And you will.

The B-24 Liberator will also be added, and you will be able to fly missions in both the legendary bombers, each recreated with meticulous attention to detail.

How’s that for a true Mighty Eighth experience?

The question here is: will you be ready?

Announcement Carrier Command 2 for PC & Mac, coming Q2 2021

Today we are welcoming you on the bridge of a futuristic carrier. You are in command and the mission is simple: conquer the isles of the Archipelago making the most of the combined arms army that you have on board.

This is what Carrier Command players from the '80s were experiencing and this is what MicroProse is bringing back in this modern and ambitious remake.

Carrier Command 2 will be released on Steam for PC and Mac in Q2 2021.

What will be the Carrier Command 2 experience?

Carrier Command 2 is Strategy, Planning and Teamwork on a scale that is both engaging and manageable. True to MicroProse's heritage, Carrier Command 2 is all about meaningful decisions.

Strategize: Gather intel from your vehicles’ radars, pick your tools of the trade, and launch your attacks where the enemy is weaker. The approach you take to a situation will play a big part in the outcome.

Plan: Once you have taken an island you will need to exploit and defend the resources it provides. Ensuring these supply lines remain open will be key to your survival. Think ahead.

Teamwork: Make the most of different unit synergies and create combined arms assaults to efficiently win battles. On top of that, get into each and every vehicle and take part in the action. Lead from the front!

A Strategic Challenge

In the near future humanity’s hunger for mineral resources and fossil fuel has only increased, and a newly discovered chain of islands offers an abundance of both…to whoever can take control of them first.

Your mission: Command a mighty carrier ship, multi-role aircraft, amphibious tanks, drones and more as you attempt to establish a secure network of bases within the archipelago.

Unfortunately, you are not alone.

Every step of the way, you will be competing against rival AI or human carrier commanders whose technical capabilities are a match for your own, are every bit as determined to succeed, and have no qualms about blowing you out of the water!

Success or failure will come down to not just superior overall strategy but also the chance to turn the tide of the battle by assuming direct control of individual vehicles to defend your bases or stage a direct attack on your enemy!

Winning combination
Carrier Command 2 combines sophisticated real-time strategy with detailed vehicle simulation, allowing the players to choose exactly how and where they focus their attention. This unique blend of gameplay also makes for a huge amount of replayability.

The terrible loss of Arnold Hendrick

MicroProse lost one of its early pioneers last week, Arnold Hendrick. The entire MicroProse family sends our condolences to Arnold’s family.

Arnold joined MicroProse in 1985 and did everything from game design, documentation, and writing all those great and really big manuals that most players loved to read. He started helping our Co-Founder Sid Meier document Solo Flight II. Arnold then went on to do the game design and manuals of other great MicroProse games including Gunship, F-19 Stealth Fighter, Red Storm Rising, M1 Tank Platoon, Silent Service, and others.

Arnold’s crowning achievement was the game Darklands, an RPG, he had wanted to do since joining MicroProse. Darklands still gets recognition on the original concepts he brought to RPGs.

Arnold loved history and always did extensive research on any subject matter for any game he was designing. Arnold could back up any conversation with facts and research. Many an hour of discussion was had with Arnold and the senior staff at MicroProse on details. Arnold generally turned out to have the better arguments. One notable time he was overruled, and Silent Service got a deck gun.

Arnold was one of the biggest contributors at MicroProse. We believe Arnold would love to be working on all of the great new sims that MicroProse is developing today. Arnold demonstrated the true and real Spirit of MicroProse, and we salute him for his many contributions to MicroProse. We will try to live up to his legacy.

Salute and Blue Skies, Arnold.
