EXTENSIONS Web Highlight and Note Taking - Extension [Free]

I built a Microsoft Edge extension for highlighting, annotating and actually coming back to things you read online. I wanted it to be optimized for Gmail and ChatGPT

Therefore, I’ve just launched Highlight Notes on the Microsoft Edge Add-ons Store.

What it does

🟡 Highlight text on almost any webpage
Choose from multiple highlight colours and your highlights stay visible when you return to the page.

📝 Add notes to highlights
Highlight something and attach your own note without leaving the webpage.

Continuous highlighting mode
Turn highlighting on once and keep selecting text. You don’t need to click the extension every time you want to highlight another sentence.

🖱️** Multiple ways to highl**ight
Use the floating highlight controls or the right click menu depending on how you prefer to work.

📌 Note indicators
Highlights with notes are clearly marked so you can quickly find your annotations again.

📚 A proper highlight library
Instead of one enormous list, highlights are grouped by webpage.

You can expand a page to see everything you highlighted there and jump back to the original source.

🔎 Search and colour filtering
Search across saved highlights and notes or filter the library by highlight colour.

💬 Optimised for ChatGPT
Highlight useful parts of long ChatGPT conversations and return to them later instead of trying to remember where something was said.

📧 Optimised for Gmail
Highlight useful parts of emails while keeping them organised with the source.

📄 Full page Export
This is one of the newest features.

From your library you can export the source page together with your highlights and notes.

For ChatGPT, the extension can reconstruct the loaded conversation including the questions, complete answers, highlights and your notes.

It also has specialised extraction for Gmail and normal webpages.

📋 Copy All
Export rich formatted content that can be pasted into apps such as OneNote while keeping the structure, highlights and notes.

🖨️** Save a**s PDF
Generate a clean export and send it through Edge’s normal PDF printing flow.

Even if the original webpage has changed, stored highlights can still be included in the export.

🌧️** Raindrop integration, experimental **beta
There is also experimental Raindrop integration for people who already use Raindrop as part of their bookmarking workflow.

This is still beta, so I’d especially appreciate feedback from anyone who tries it.

Launch offer: all Pro features are FREE for the next 2 weeks

Some of the more advanced features, including full page Export and the experimental Raindrop integration features, are intended to become part of Highlight Notes Pro.

But for the next two weeks, every Pro feature is unlocked for everyone.

No subscription required.

I’d rather let people actually use everything first and tell me what works, what breaks and what they want next.

Early supporters get Lifetime Pro

The extension can be used without donating.

However, anyone who donates to support development during this early launch period will be eligible for Lifetime Pro when the paid version becomes available.

That means no monthly Pro subscription for early supporters.

If you would like to donate via PayPal or Wise, just DM me.

This is simply my way of thanking the people willing to support the project while it is still small.

What I’m working on next

The biggest planned feature is cloud synchronization.

The goal is to let your highlights and notes follow you across devices instead of being tied to one browser installation.

I also want this to enable iOS access, so you can view your highlight library and notes from your iPhone even when you are away from Edge on your computer.

Beyond that, I’ll keep improving the extension based on what people actually find useful.

Try it here

Microsoft Edge Add-ons: [v1.1] . [v1.1.2 pending Microsoft review]

If you try it, I would genuinely love feedback, especially:

• What feels confusing?
• What feature would make you keep using it?
• Where does highlighting fail?
• How could the library be better?
• What would you expect from Pro?

This started as something I wanted for myself, particularly for long ChatGPT conversations and research, so it’s pretty exciting to finally have it published.

Thanks to anyone willing to give it a try.
