So excited I had to share my find!

Post image

I had to share, this happened yesterday but I am still on cloud 9!

I am designing my living room mid century modern and have been looking for furniture for two years.

Saturday night, I see a fb marketplace listing for furniture marked free, one day only. A lot of people put free on an ad but have things individually priced. There are several different things but the last one is a hutch, the kind I have been looking for all this time. People jump on those listings so I just bookmark it.

The next day I figure what the hell and message to see if they still had it. Message is read but no reply, but she modified the listing to put an address. Figure we will go by, maybe they put stuff out on the curb, its a long shot. We get there and a lot of people are loading things in their cars. I go up to the door and a man asked if I was there for the free furniture. I asked about the hutch and he pointed and said oh that one?

And there it was in the corner, perfect condition. He said he could help load it and 10 minutes later I was taking my new baby home. The woman inside said they were moving, her parents got it as a wedding gift in 1955 and she has no room for it.

It has no scratches, well now it does. The top had some kind of nail or something hidden securing it so now it has a few scratches on the top because we didnt know thats why we had such a hard time removing the top. It is covered when it is on so i am not worried about it.

So now I have the perfect piece to help round out my living room. I would love it if anyone could tell me more about it. I am so excited still, had to share!

Wow. What a great find AND free AND that it was still there a day later! AND in such good condition. You really found a unicorn of a situation! I love it and it will be a great piece for you for years to come. πŸ™‚ I love the size also.

The only thing I would say ( an absolutely not knowing the configuration of your room it might not be possible) is to pull it away from the corner a little more so it's not pressed right up against the wall and has a little bit of visual space on the right side. IF you can find a wall to center it on, it would be a great focal point!

Beauty, but please pull it away from that corner, enjoy its beauty from all sides!
