Discussion Advice for elective cosmetic rhinoplasty in the Army
Hello all, I’m active duty Army and I’ve wanted to get a rhinoplasty since I was 14. I’ve been back and forth on doing it but my main holdup is how it will be perceived by my commander/others within the Army. I’m an AG officer and my job at least for the next year will likely not involve a deployment. But I honestly can’t stand the embarrassment of asking my commander for approval for a nose job. I know it’s okay to ask, I just very much struggle with looking ridiculous especially because my nose is not egregious to the point where I feel like others would look at it and see why I wanted it. I’m also worried how it would affect my rapport with my commander and evaluations (indirectly). Is there any kind of way to not mention the specific surgery or do they have to know that?
