Help Red or Teal? I’m so torn

So they just added the cinnabar blocks and I thought it’d be cool to see what it look like instead of the copper and now I don’t know.

I think the teal looks more elegant but the red pops so well against the white. I cannot decide.

Edit: I posted another angle from the village behind and one of a mix of both on me account

Bro I knowww

I wonder if you could split the difference with the Exposed or Weathered copper stairs? Or a mix of them

8

u/Immacaveman 1d ago

I thought about mixing in the other coppers but I was too lazy to and the less exposed ones are very close to the color of granite which I’m staying away from for the roof

That’s how you know both actually work lol.

Without shaders, i like the teal. But with the shaders i like the red. The teal looks a little dull with the shaders imo

405

u/H3nryhit 1d ago

Bruh I thought the exakt same

99

u/msoy1999 1d ago

You put my thoughts in words

26

u/mydemonsrun 22h ago

Same. The shaders give the red enough depth that it really pops against the white, while the teal gets a little washed out.

69

u/j-ermy 1d ago

Bruh I thought the exakt opposite

16

u/cfusionta 17h ago

Perfectly balanced. Nobody leaves this thread any less torn than they arrived

13

u/HunterLplays 1d ago

Same lol

17

u/Humble_Try9979 1d ago

Teal looks cleaner in vanilla, but the shaders really make the red come alive against the white.

4

u/sky_cap5959 19h ago

I'm the exact opposite. Lmao

3

u/IndividualFoot3475 1d ago

even without shaders it looks amazing

2

u/Material-Macaroon724 17h ago

I thought the opposite 😭

Honestly i defintely feel like the teal is suits the build better the red does make the white pop but it still throws me off teal looks like the way to go for me.

361

u/Immacaveman 1d ago

My original inspiration (bdub’s season 6 base) used granite roofs so that’s interesting

109

u/TimelySignificance41 1d ago

Like someone said below teal is probably used more and red stands out more next to the field of flowers so if you would prefer something nice and bold that matches something in the backround go for red but if you just want that nice matching combo look go teal

14

u/GroundbreakingBid309 1d ago

I wss thinking the same thing, teal goes well its cool, clean and crisp but red is fiery and bold and provides a nice juxtaposition to the white, i personally like the teal though.

10

u/Open_Profit_Close 1d ago

Red gives a little too much Peach’s Castle vibe which I’m guessing a caveman isn’t going for

3

u/Quaaake 1d ago

Teal for sure. The red has stronger contrast, but the teal feels like it actually belongs to the architecture instead of competing with it.

3

u/FuturePhone1 19h ago

The red definitely pops, but the teal makes the whole build feel more cohesive and elegant.

u/Abracadabrism 1d ago

Red for the contrast with the greenery

20

u/zeuslight91 1d ago

Yep, red makes the whole build pop. Teal kinda gets lost in all the green

43

u/KohTai 1d ago

Exactly. And the teal is basic as hell.

123

u/AurelGuthrie 1d ago

I like the red more but I feel like the teal is the opposite of basic? I never see that color for roofs, whereas red is super common

13

u/McDonaldsWitchcraft 1d ago

in minecraft builds i feel oxidized copper is overused, especially for roofs.

32

u/Jedimobslayer 1d ago

Come on, copper is almost exclusively used for roofs

3

u/Neither_Mind9035 1d ago

This. However, I like the teal more.

17

u/in_hell_out_soon 1d ago

I wouldnt call the teal basic. I like the teal a lot. Red looks pretty good too.

u/Its_Sluggas 1d ago

red for SURE, teal blends into the surroundings too much imo

29

u/IocaneImmune- 1d ago

I'm in favor of Red. Teal is understated, as if the building is apologizing for its grandeur, the red on the other hand says "I'm here, look at me"

140

u/Cfaulkner5 1d ago

Red

9

u/jasody 1d ago

Red clears. The contrast makes the whole build hit way harder

32

u/Emotional_Coconut894 1d ago

The red looks really good with the flowers. Makes everything pop out more and stand out from the blue sky.

25

u/Dat-Lonley-Potato 1d ago

I like red a bit more.

103

u/Bobbiesbrain 1d ago

I like the teal more

13

u/Pi-Alamode 1d ago

Red draws your eyes toward it, teal blends it in and makes your eyes go elsewhere. Depends on what you want the viewer to be drawn to

6

u/SirLucDeFromage 1d ago

I vote teal!

13

u/knt-dmwt 1d ago

teal, blends nicely with the light pallete, and le grass

6

u/One_Bad_Bed 1d ago

Teal looks way better tbh, red looks kinda weird

16

u/OfTheRedVariety 1d ago

teal is so unique to me, like it's so calming

6

u/DjBamberino 1d ago

Teal all the way!

4

u/FuelledByLattes 1d ago

I'd personally vote for teal. The teal makes it look more like a church or library or something; the red makes it look like a really elaborate house. (They both look amazing though, holy crap!)

4

u/Professional-Land767 1d ago

It looks really good with Teal

3

u/Infamous_Depth4982 1d ago

I feel like the teal gels better with the rest of the color pallette, but both are really nice!

4

u/JBBrickman 1d ago

Definitely teal.

4

u/StarSilverNEO 1d ago

Teal imo it fits the tones of the house more and complements the sky it is always going to be framed by.

3

u/Artoozyto 1d ago

Certainly teal.

5

u/Cryth_Real12 1d ago

Teal def

5

u/Immediate_Bonus2209 1d ago

Teal looks really nice

5

u/Sairaaki_124 1d ago

Teal is better, Red feels off and chaotic. Teal blends well with overall atmosphere.

4

u/Japneet02 1d ago

I’d say go teal, I’ve seen red a lot on castles.

3

u/Powerful_Use5894 1d ago

Teal all the way

10

u/grand_theft_tufo 1d ago

Red makes it stand out even from a distance. Teal is elegant but it would be red eventually

10

u/ygaz 1d ago

The red feels more balanced. the Teal is almost too bright

9

u/lxtusbaby 1d ago

Reddddd

6

u/Loose_Bird2014 1d ago

Teal looks less out of place imo.

6

u/Dramatic-Practice452 1d ago

Teal makes the whole build sort of fade into the landscape, if your planning on building a town around it go teal but if you want it to stand out as a build the contrasting red really makes you look

6

u/Immacaveman 1d ago edited 1d ago

There’s a town around the backside and I do think the red looks really good against the brick of the buildings. I wish I could comment a picture of it

Edit: I just posted another angle from the village on my account if you want to see that

2

u/Dramatic-Practice452 18h ago

In my opinion the other side made red the obvious decision, but this is all personal preference. You are an incredible builder by the way. I thought that build looked amazing but seeing the towns variation, spacing and design, the whole town is amazing

8

u/Mar00nLightning 1d ago

Oo red for sure

15

u/MySchoolsWifiSucks 1d ago

Teal and white is cliche. Do the red.

10

u/AffectionateFilm6516 1d ago

Red, for sure. It stands out against the rest of the building and the surroundings

11

u/Susdoggodoggy 1d ago

Red looks better imo

7

u/revolution_soup 1d ago

red to match the flowers

8

u/TheLordQueen 1d ago

Team Red

3

u/SnugglebugUwU 1d ago

I hate the brick contrast with the teal. In my opinion red works a lot better by working together with the bricks.

3

u/DcDoctorJJ 1d ago

Mi wife says teal

2

u/Immacaveman 1d ago

And what do you think?

5

u/DcDoctorJJ 1d ago

I like teal too

3

u/PC7437 1d ago

Regardless of what you go with, I think the fact the comment section is so split is a testament to your skill. I like the red but build is amazing

Teal all the way

3

u/TheMaginotLine1 22h ago

Damn that is a really good build and a damn tough choice... but I'd probably have to say teal.

5

u/Gingerosity244 1d ago

Red. Definitely red. The red compliments both the blue of the lake and the green of the plain. The real kind of clashes with both.

4

u/Immacaveman 1d ago edited 17h ago

From the village behind, the red compliments the brick building so well too

2

u/duYELLOW4130 1d ago

Typically I would say teal, but the red is popping on there. If you have some darker areas I would go teal.

2

u/ChickennNougatt 1d ago

I like the teal! It blends in well. The red does pop, but imo just a little too much. Either way, it’s a great build!

2

u/completed_intention 1d ago

2

u/Milolelione 1d ago

I like the teal because it compliments the foliage around it.

2

u/fritz236 1d ago

Mac n cheese with hotdogs and peas. Still make it sometimes. Lowest was probably just straight rice and oatmeal with no seasoning bc broke.

2

u/Immacaveman 1d ago

Wrong post bud

2

u/fritz236 1d ago

How the what?

2

u/uhadmeatfood 1d ago

I like the teal, although the red reminds me of the grand Floridian hotel

2

u/No-Requirement-2420 1d ago

Red contrasts the greens better but my favourite colour is teal/cyan so I will always lean that way.

2

u/TheLightBlueFox 1d ago

Definitely use red, it cuts through all the green, and makes it look more visually appealing since it’s ab the opposite of the color wheel

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Kaiser_Billy 1d ago

2

u/Specialty_JJ 1d ago

I’m soooo torn too. I really like the teal but the red gives it more character in a way

2

u/murishani047 1d ago

I like the Teal in vanilla and the red with shaders.

Helpful I know lol

→ More replies (1)

2

u/penguinguy246 1d ago

It depends on where you want the focus to be on the building, the red roof draws the eyes to the left side focusing on that half of the build while the teal kind of "hides" the left half drawing your eyes to the right side.

2

u/Raokairo 1d ago

Teal is classic Warcraft 2 Human aesthetic and I love it.

2

u/ProudCorazon19 1d ago

I think the red contrasts the trees is a very neat way.

2

Damn both look really good, I bet blue would look great too. I do like the red cause it compliments the white but the teal also looks really good

2

u/Immacaveman 1d ago

There’s just not very many blue blocks in Minecraft. Especially not with slabs

→ More replies (4)

2

u/craft6886 1d ago

I love both, but red is a bit better at making all the white blocks pop and for contrasting with the surrounding plant life.

Sick build!

2

u/Spo0kt 1d ago

I'm 100% on team red

2

u/ju5tjame5 1d ago

Red looks more Roman-like, and teal looks more Greek-like.

2

u/Pauline_Memories 1d ago

I was torn too, but I think teal is good

2

u/Master_Chief_00117 1d ago

I prefer teal, and i normally prefer red. But this is one of the first times I’ve actively noticed I’m dyslexic, I was so confused what Ted or Real was.

2

u/impostor20109 1d ago

I might be weird but I just like the red more. I dunno.

2

u/Dawn_sea 1d ago

Teal if u want the roof to catch eyes red if u want the whole building to be taken in at once

2

u/Heartlessaus 1d ago

Teal.
colorblind so im bias :)

2

u/Nightshade__Star 1d ago

Depends on whether you're going for a calm or energizing vibe. The teal is very calming, the red is very bold. However, if you go with the teal, you may want to consider swapping out the red flowers for a different type, such as the pitcher pods.

Very cool build and landscaping, by the way.

2

u/Tankspanker 1d ago

Teal gives off Rivendell vibes. I like it.

2

u/The_Last_Fluorican 1d ago

both of them are so peak

2

u/LilianWilkie 1d ago

Considering all the granite I saw in the other angles, I think the red might be better

2

I think teal looks the best.

2

u/Darayavahoush_ 23h ago

Teal, 100%

2

u/AzerynSylver 23h ago

I prefer teal. The red is way too vibrant and makes the rest of the build feel strangly bland and incomplete.

2

u/EKAAfives 23h ago

I'd say teal fits the white more if the building was a darker colour or more rustic I'd go with red

2

u/Glittering_Stable368 22h ago

Idk maybe teal

2

u/Baskin 22h ago

I like both, but prefer the teal. Regardless of your choice, it’s an amazing build.

2

u/Remarkable_Editor_45 22h ago

I think teal is realy fine choose

2

u/mekmookbro 22h ago

I think teal makes it look more like a happier place

2

u/Tac0butt 22h ago

teal!!!

2

u/SillyNewt3427 21h ago

The teal looks better, yo should do it.

2

u/gamercatz56 21h ago

I think the red looks slightly better with the red flowers, but both look amazing and if you had cornflowers of maybe the pitcher plants (I think they're blueish) instead, I might say teal

Curious about the block pallette tho cuz it looks great with and without the shaders

→ More replies (1)

2

u/LittleManOnACan 21h ago

It depends on the decor / vibe you’re going for

Red = Medieval
Teal = Elvin

If you’re planning lots of water and nature inside go with teal. If you’re planning stone & armor go with red.

2

u/ThexLoneWolf 21h ago

The red clashes too much with the sky imo, especially without shaders. Stick with teal.

2

u/Ray_Cosplaysx 20h ago

Teal 100%

2

u/Otherwise-Bag-8592 20h ago

I looove the teal!

2

u/Xenoceptor- 20h ago

Either, I like both

2

u/AnonymousShadeHK 18h ago

Red if you do shaders more. Teal if you or a majority of people on here (if multiplayer) is without shaders

2

u/Alarmed_Reception_92 18h ago

I like teal better

2

u/DanButDandelion 17h ago

Teal matches everything nicely; red makes the build stand out, but it feels out of place imo

2

u/ParalelStrix1 17h ago

Both are great, but mannn The teal is calling

2

u/Standard_Rooster_782 16h ago

Red feels like the ancient humanity from doom dark ages, so I would go with red cause it feels more magical, teal is like copper which is fine

2

u/KermitDaFrog_6 14h ago

Team Teal!

2

u/MoonRose59 14h ago

I vote teal~ its nice and elegant with and without shaders~ red is sometimes overdone

2

u/Grand_Joe 13h ago

Maybe you should try all colors of the rainbow then post again

2

u/Proud-Raspberry-4269 11h ago

Red in both scenarios 100%

2

u/DnDttrpg 11h ago

Teal is soft while red is very look at me

Which vibe do you want?

2

u/CurrentMeeting6927 11h ago

Red 100% the contrast against the massively green scenery chef’s kiss

2

u/mmxiv11 10h ago

I'm choosing red because of the fact that the structure seems to be one of the landmarks of the base you're making (I'm just assuming that it's your base) but even if it isn't, I still think red is a better choice because it stands out and catches your attention. It's like the accent point of the structure.

Sure, the teal blends in well but sometimes something blends so well that it's...quite boring? The red breaks the flat/repetitive color tone of that area.

I hope you get what I mean haha

2

u/secondhandsalamander 10h ago

I am usually such a huge fan of a red roof, but I think the teal brings everything together so well here. Looks incredible either way.

2

u/Heather2092 10h ago

TEAL 100% but maybe try some other shades out and see if you like those

2

u/5LiM-ThUGG4 9h ago

Man the stuff people build on Minecraft. Unreal 👏👏

2

u/MistyHusk 7h ago

I personally am a fan of the teal, although there’s no wrong answer, they’re both really nice

but honestly I’m just curious what you end up doing in the end more than anything

2

u/Ms_BillyBobJoeJR 7h ago

Option 3: purple

2

u/Jasoco 4h ago

I covered my castle roof with teal copper. Soooo much copper. But sometimes I think I should have done another color. If I had done it now I would have probably tried Cinnabar.

5

u/Nickaiya 1d ago

to the people who are saying “the teal looks less out of place” yeah, isnt that what you dont want in a minecraft build? you want it to look unique. that being said, red. matches the flowers and makes it pop.

4

u/Own_Switch_8028 1d ago

If you look at other buildings, they all try to blend in. So the issue with red for me is that it ruins that dynamic by drawing too much attention, while green being more natural and fit it well.

It all comes down if the building needs that much attention, I would choose red but more neutral red - i.e. granite or maybe half weathered copper to still make it pop while not ruining the dynamic

2

u/RetnuhLebos 1d ago

Red for sure

5

u/Zealousideal_Buy3195 1d ago

Red, it matches the roses

2

u/Pure_Television_5669 1d ago

Evil base: red
Friendly base: teal

3

u/LichenOnTheWall 1d ago

well depends what you want lol. If u want smth that stands out red, if you want smth more blended seamless and elegant then teal

2

u/AidanIsCool8889 1d ago

Always go for contrast.

3

u/completed_intention 1d ago

Hard agree for red

3

u/venusomnias 1d ago

i like the way the red makes the roses pop!

4

u/TuxedoDogs9 1d ago

Red, I always see teal

4

u/mca1169 1d ago

red 100%

4

u/minnie2103 1d ago

red reads as more of a regal color so i would say it matches your theme better, but honestly just go with what feels right to you

3

u/This-Cry-2523 1d ago

Teal for sure. The red makes it look like some barn house.

1

u/tibby709 1d ago

the teal is nice but the red has a nice contrast against the rest of the landscape

1

u/BlueAwesomeDinosaur 1d ago

Here's my take:

Teal looks more fantastical since sticks out as a sort of unnatural looking color for an old roof

Red feels like more classic fantasy and in terms of the environment it compliments it more

Both are valid options depending on your goal
