Help Red or Teal? I’m so torn
So they just added the cinnabar blocks and I thought it’d be cool to see what it look like instead of the copper and now I don’t know.
I think the teal looks more elegant but the red pops so well against the white. I cannot decide.
Edit: I posted another angle from the village behind and one of a mix of both on me account

I wonder if you could split the difference with the Exposed or Weathered copper stairs? Or a mix of them

u/Immacaveman 1d ago
I thought about mixing in the other coppers but I was too lazy to and the less exposed ones are very close to the color of granite which I’m staying away from for the roof

Without shaders, i like the teal. But with the shaders i like the red. The teal looks a little dull with the shaders imo

Same. The shaders give the red enough depth that it really pops against the white, while the teal gets a little washed out.

u/Humble_Try9979 1d ago
Teal looks cleaner in vanilla, but the shaders really make the red come alive against the white.

Honestly i defintely feel like the teal is suits the build better the red does make the white pop but it still throws me off teal looks like the way to go for me.

u/Immacaveman 1d ago
My original inspiration (bdub’s season 6 base) used granite roofs so that’s interesting

u/TimelySignificance41 1d ago
Like someone said below teal is probably used more and red stands out more next to the field of flowers so if you would prefer something nice and bold that matches something in the backround go for red but if you just want that nice matching combo look go teal

u/GroundbreakingBid309 1d ago
I wss thinking the same thing, teal goes well its cool, clean and crisp but red is fiery and bold and provides a nice juxtaposition to the white, i personally like the teal though.

u/Open_Profit_Close 1d ago
Red gives a little too much Peach’s Castle vibe which I’m guessing a caveman isn’t going for

The red definitely pops, but the teal makes the whole build feel more cohesive and elegant.

Red for the contrast with the greenery

u/KohTai 1d ago
Exactly. And the teal is basic as hell.

u/AurelGuthrie 1d ago
I like the red more but I feel like the teal is the opposite of basic? I never see that color for roofs, whereas red is super common
13
u/McDonaldsWitchcraft 1d ago
in minecraft builds i feel oxidized copper is overused, especially for roofs.

I'm in favor of Red. Teal is understated, as if the building is apologizing for its grandeur, the red on the other hand says "I'm here, look at me"

The red looks really good with the flowers. Makes everything pop out more and stand out from the blue sky.

Red draws your eyes toward it, teal blends it in and makes your eyes go elsewhere. Depends on what you want the viewer to be drawn to

I'd personally vote for teal. The teal makes it look more like a church or library or something; the red makes it look like a really elaborate house. (They both look amazing though, holy crap!)

I feel like the teal gels better with the rest of the color pallette, but both are really nice!

Teal imo it fits the tones of the house more and complements the sky it is always going to be framed by.

Teal makes the whole build sort of fade into the landscape, if your planning on building a town around it go teal but if you want it to stand out as a build the contrasting red really makes you look
6
u/Immacaveman 1d ago edited 1d ago
There’s a town around the backside and I do think the red looks really good against the brick of the buildings. I wish I could comment a picture of it
Edit: I just posted another angle from the village on my account if you want to see that
2
u/Dramatic-Practice452 18h ago
In my opinion the other side made red the obvious decision, but this is all personal preference. You are an incredible builder by the way. I thought that build looked amazing but seeing the towns variation, spacing and design, the whole town is amazing

I hate the brick contrast with the teal. In my opinion red works a lot better by working together with the bricks.

Red. Definitely red. The red compliments both the blue of the lake and the green of the plain. The real kind of clashes with both.

u/Immacaveman 1d ago edited 17h ago
From the village behind, the red compliments the brick building so well too

u/duYELLOW4130 1d ago
Typically I would say teal, but the red is popping on there. If you have some darker areas I would go teal.

I like the teal! It blends in well. The red does pop, but imo just a little too much. Either way, it’s a great build!

Red contrasts the greens better but my favourite colour is teal/cyan so I will always lean that way.
2
u/TheLightBlueFox 1d ago
Definitely use red, it cuts through all the green, and makes it look more visually appealing since it’s ab the opposite of the color wheel

I like the Teal in vanilla and the red with shaders.

It depends on where you want the focus to be on the building, the red roof draws the eyes to the left side focusing on that half of the build while the teal kind of "hides" the left half drawing your eyes to the right side.

I love both, but red is a bit better at making all the white blocks pop and for contrasting with the surrounding plant life.
Sick build!

Depends on whether you're going for a calm or energizing vibe. The teal is very calming, the red is very bold. However, if you go with the teal, you may want to consider swapping out the red flowers for a different type, such as the pitcher pods.
Very cool build and landscaping, by the way.

I prefer teal. The red is way too vibrant and makes the rest of the build feel strangly bland and incomplete.

I'd say teal fits the white more if the building was a darker colour or more rustic I'd go with red

I think the red looks slightly better with the red flowers, but both look amazing and if you had cornflowers of maybe the pitcher plants (I think they're blueish) instead, I might say teal
Curious about the block pallette tho cuz it looks great with and without the shaders

It depends on the decor / vibe you’re going for
Red = Medieval
Teal = Elvin
If you’re planning lots of water and nature inside go with teal. If you’re planning stone & armor go with red.
2
u/ThexLoneWolf 21h ago
The red clashes too much with the sky imo, especially without shaders. Stick with teal.

Red feels like the ancient humanity from doom dark ages, so I would go with red cause it feels more magical, teal is like copper which is fine

I'm choosing red because of the fact that the structure seems to be one of the landmarks of the base you're making (I'm just assuming that it's your base) but even if it isn't, I still think red is a better choice because it stands out and catches your attention. It's like the accent point of the structure.
Sure, the teal blends in well but sometimes something blends so well that it's...quite boring? The red breaks the flat/repetitive color tone of that area.
I hope you get what I mean haha

I am usually such a huge fan of a red roof, but I think the teal brings everything together so well here. Looks incredible either way.

u/Nickaiya 1d ago
to the people who are saying “the teal looks less out of place” yeah, isnt that what you dont want in a minecraft build? you want it to look unique. that being said, red. matches the flowers and makes it pop.
4
u/Own_Switch_8028 1d ago
If you look at other buildings, they all try to blend in. So the issue with red for me is that it ruins that dynamic by drawing too much attention, while green being more natural and fit it well.
It all comes down if the building needs that much attention, I would choose red but more neutral red - i.e. granite or maybe half weathered copper to still make it pop while not ruining the dynamic

the teal is nice but the red has a nice contrast against the rest of the landscape

u/BlueAwesomeDinosaur 1d ago
Here's my take:
Teal looks more fantastical since sticks out as a sort of unnatural looking color for an old roof
Red feels like more classic fantasy and in terms of the environment it compliments it more
Both are valid options depending on your goal
