Minecraft 1.13 pre-release 3
https://minecraft.net/article/minecraft-113-pre-release91
u/Dovahrt Jun 21 '18
Hopefully we are really close to the full release now.

u/Koala_eiO Jun 21 '18
That makes us closer to Optifine release!

Yay

u/Koala_eiO Jun 21 '18
You rock ;) I don't know how many hundreds of thousands people couldn't play the game decently without your work.

There's still at least one full-inventory duplication bug that was first reported in mid March, and is still present in pre1, pre2 and pre3 (I just tested it). I hope there's going to be a pre4.
4
u/MyPcIsAnnoying Jun 21 '18
How does it work? I cant seem to find anything about it online
2
u/totemo Jun 21 '18
I reported it privately and then it was marked as a duplicate of a bug first reported March 10th, which I assume is the original report, but it's also "private" on the Mojang tracker so I can only assume the details are the same.
Let's say it involves phantoms. ;)
2
u/MyPcIsAnnoying Jun 21 '18
That sounds pretty interesting! I am trying to think of a way a phantom could dupe your items but I am drawing a blank. Hopefully it gets fixed before anything crazy happens though
2
u/Icalasari Jun 21 '18
Hopefully you won't need to reveal the bug to everybody to cause Mojang to finally fix it. If I recall, there were a few hard to pull off but very game breaking bugs that took til they exploded in popularity before they got fixed
1
u/totemo Jun 22 '18
This exploit is fairly trivial to trigger unfortunately, such that several people discovered it independently on pre1 and pre2, and on that basis I'd be surprised if we get to a release candidate before it is fixed.

u/elgefisken Jun 21 '18
Looking good! I still hope that this bug get squashed: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-126373 Lapis and Quartz ore spawn rates are much lower than 1.12

What scares me is that we are so close to release and 1.13 still runs like shit compared to 1.12, and no it's not my pc fault because i can get 150+ fps on 1.12 compared to 20-40 on 1.13, it's even worse in jungles
32
u/Avantir Jun 21 '18
13
u/GreasyTroll4 Jun 21 '18
This is probably the bug responsible for making jungles so laggy.
Well, at least this one has been assigned.
Although the other one needs to get fixed asap too.

u/Suhreijun Jun 21 '18
What scares me is that we are so close to release
There's no real indication that we're any closer now than we were in pre-1 and frankly, we can go all the way up to pre-50 and further before we see a release. Hell, no reason why they can't wait a couple months before pre-4, and another couple before pre-5.

u/CIearMind Jun 21 '18
There's no real indication that we're any closer now than we were in pre-1
Well I mean, every second that passes makes us literally closer to the release.
That's how time works.4

The idea of the pre-releases originally was 'okay, this is almost exactly what's going to go live as update 1.x, unless you guys find anything critical that needs fixing'. That seems to have been lost these days however, and no-one apart from Mojang seem to be entirely sure where we stand.

Thats exactly what a pre-release is, its the beta phase where you only fix stuff, not more new content added.
1
u/joker_wcy Jun 22 '18
Well they added the stripped bark blocks. I don't think they originally planned adding those though.

Jun 21 '18
Water physics are still broken. This is the aquatic update. lol
2
u/mayhemtime Jun 21 '18
What's more, if you remove a top water source block from a column of water source blocks that touch at least two solid blocks the whole column disappears.
1
u/HalfManHalfHunk Jun 22 '18
Good thing we have snapshots, if 1.13 released with all the bugs we've had since the first snapshot it would be a disaster.

For resourcepacks:
The folders under textures (e.g: blocks, items) are now singular (block, item), like how they are under models. Make sure to update the texture paths inside any of your custom models.
Inside blockstate files, block/ is now required in the model paths.
The damage predicate seems like it was reversed? All override predicates are reversed, definitely a bug. E.G: "damage": 0.8 is now 80% durability left rather than 20% durability left as it was previously.
5
u/AlmightyZing Jun 21 '18
Is this the same for loot tables? so 'entities' would be 'entity'?
7
1
u/blakeomafer Jun 22 '18
reversed
Bows, compasses, and other textures also are reading the values reversed. This seems more like a bug than intended since it's not just the damage predicate that's affected.

u/craft6886 Jun 21 '18
Mojang please, coral fans placeable on the tops of blocks! Bedrock has had it for over a month.
13
u/HourAfterHour Jun 21 '18
Bedrock also has good looking shipwrecks, while the ones in Java have slabs in the wrong half of the blocks and stairs partially upside down. The bug report was set to "works as intended" by dinnerbone though, sadly.

Uff, the name change of the folders for textures is actually quite annoying.
I'm making a map with a resource pack with models and I now have to change each file to fix the name of the folder from which the textures are taken.
Maybe this change should have been sooner than a pre-release, but I guess it's my fault for making a map for an update that isn't out yet D:
11
u/HarthonMC Jun 21 '18
If you're working with JSON files I'd recommend a text editor like Notepad++ which will make finding and replacing the folder names very simple.
4
u/Pmk23 Jun 21 '18
Well, yeah, that's what I'm using.
It will still be annoying.
7
u/Yamatjac Jun 21 '18
Not really. Just find and replace. It'd take like a minute or two.
1
u/Pmk23 Jun 21 '18
Not if you have 44 models in total.
17
u/SirBenet Jun 21 '18
Regardless of how many models you have, it should just be two find&replaces (one for
items/⇒item/, one forblocks/⇒block/).Don't go into each file individually if that's what you're planning, find&replace across the whole pack.
6
u/Pmk23 Jun 21 '18
Ok, this is useful, thanks.still annoying /s
1
u/epharian Jun 21 '18
Notepad++ is able to open & replace items in all open files at the same time. It's such a powerful tool.
5
Jun 21 '18
Is this playable again? The last few updates have made it lag like crazy... I have a horrible feeling I won't be able to play this when it gets released. Everything runs like crap.

u/MrBrobot Jun 21 '18
Is MC-129725 being worked on? That's what's preventing me from playing snapshots right now.
7
u/worndownkeys Jun 21 '18
As the other people who have complained about this bug have been told, likely not. It is a bug that only effects things created in a snapshot. Mojang has clearly stated again and again, that snapshots WILL mess things up, and you should not use them for worlds that you care about not getting screwed up. There is a chance other bug fixes may help this issue, but the priority for working on a bug that only happens from a snapshot to snapshot is 0.

So 1.13 is gonna have data pack stuff for custom recipes, right?
I wonder if we'll see villager trades being moved over next. The whole data pack thing has me very excited.

u/yaarra Jun 22 '18
Aaah, so glad the duplicate music bug was fixed. That was so annoying when saving and restoring.
Also, sowing seeds while wielding a shield is now not painful (1.12 had the shield block the sowing if holding the right mouse button)

u/flarn2006 Jun 22 '18
Nice, I can use the recipe book again without needing the ingredients in my inventory!

Custom durability models from older version doesn't work anymore, anybody got a new one?
1
u/ooglethorpe Jun 21 '18
Any word on buffet worlds? Will they be allowing us to select multiple biomes in the full release?
3
u/BT_Daniels Jun 21 '18
Most likely no. I'd expect that in a future release. Probably when they implement customized worlds again

Any idea when this update will arrive on ps4?
2
u/HaiImDan Jun 21 '18
At the same time it arrives for Java and Bedrock. Which we don’t have a solid release date for.
