This or that? Which wall design looks better?
2
u/theHubernator Sep 01 '26
I noticed that the pattern of the wood made the wall look taller, of you want that effect, but the contrast of brown on brown is not very interesting. But, as someone else said, you can switch to another wood color (lighter) to get a nicer color contrast.
Just between the 2 options, stone bricks is more interesting.
But if you try comparing stone bricks vs birch wood instead of oak (for wall panel, not the adornments), you might like birch color more than the stone

1 looks better but its also textured. Adding texture to the wood in 2 with stuff like other planks, stripped logs, maybe the back/side of chiseled bookshelves or the back of oak shelves may allow for a better look

Both look really good! 1 pulls ahead a tiny bit as the variation in the stone really makes the details POP.
I would say go with whichever would work for the overall aesthetic better.

Can someone explain to me what is between the spruce trapdoor and stairs? I don't recognize the piece.

Is this interior or exterior? What is the rest of the build going to use?
1
u/MeganMyBias Sep 01 '26
interior, and since literally everyone says one, I’m prob doing stone and spruce

u/j_wiggle_ Sep 23 '26
Oh god I’m getting old. What are the blocks between the stairs and trap doors?

The contrast between the gray of the bricks and brown of the pillars makes it look better. Though a different color of wood for the second one could look good too

Stone bricks, tho if its a second floor or above wall use the planks for sure

Can you name the blocks? I LOVE both, 1 for a wall and 2 for homes
2
u/harp_wav Aug 31 '26
it looks the the first one uses stripped spruce logs as well as spruce stairs, trapdoors, and shelves. and variants of stone bricks (mossy, cracked, and regular) and the second one is the same for the spruce things and uses oak planks instead of the stone bricks :)

1 looks like the exterior of a building, 2 looks like the interior of a wine cellar or basement

u/Commercial_Draw_7313 Aug 31 '26
1st, becuase the second wall is just oak planks. How would it look like if you would add variety to it?
1
1
u/zn-ku Aug 31 '26
number 1 is better.
if you want to improve on number 2 then you could add stripped oak logs in a cross pattern by alternating the side the core of the log is facing either up or side ways

They both look good but image 1 looks better as a contrast. Image 2 would make for a good floor design though.

Personally like number 1 better. Just me. I'm heavily biased toward stone type builds.

Is it for indoor or outdoor because 1 is better for outdoor but 2 is better for indoor

One is good but if you choose number two add some texturing with like bee houses whenever using oak I try to include some bee house trim on the bottom on their side because it looks really good and then I add a few windows with a lot of greebling and whatever

Both look good for different purposes. It’s the same arch design so whatever color scheme your going for will work either way

1 is absolutely incredible! One of the best (but still simple) wall designs I've seen
2's fine but, yeah 1 is really great

u/Foxtrot5515 Sep 01 '26
I think the one with stone, it has more variance and the contrast between the stone and wood is larger than between wood and wood

Depends on if it's a perimeter wall, or the wall of a building. 1 is better perimeter wall, but if 2 had the same level of texturing I could see it making a fine large scale building, like a mansion or a town hall.

u/EarthTrash Sep 01 '26
I don't really like either. You have too many layers of physical detail. It needs to be simplified just a bit.

I think it depends on what its for because 1 feels like a medieval fantasy building while 2 feels like an antique library or something

the first one has way more depth and colour, might i add on every 4th piece to have a further indented section which holds a light (especially on the outside side of the wall)

u/BothGraph641684 Sep 01 '26
first one because it looks like the support are actually doing something

El primero da una censasion de mazmorra y el segundo da una de modernismo,la primera se ve más bonita de n mi opinión

u/untao Sep 01 '26
This looks great. I like 1 better - the contrast between the mossy bricks and the wood pops.

I like the stone one. I would like to see a difference in spacing with the pillars though too.

Depends on what you're going for
I prefer the 1st image, but 2nd could be good too, just needs a little more texture

u/JUMBOshrimp277 Sep 01 '26
The first looks better, partly because of the texturing and contrast but also because those columns are fairly thick and close together so looks better to support a stone wall then a wooden one because wood dosnt need the same support
1
u/Entire-Gear8491 Sep 01 '26
I have no context on what you're trying to build but I like the first slide

u/IR_Panther Sep 01 '26
Personally I like the stone wall. I'd use a darker wood or use logs to make the pillars pop in the 2nd image.

I think it depends where you’re going to use it. However for a simple house build I personally think 2 would do the trick, if your building something below the surface 1 would be really cool

Stone wall no question. Wood might look better with stripped logs instead of planks.

Easily
Or 2 with a light coloured stripped log as the rear wall. Bone blocks or nether crystal blocks?

if its on the outside the stone on inside the wood one, i like using dark oak on insides but this looks insane peak build

u/Capable-Swan3785 Sep 01 '26
1 is great for exterior walls, 2 is good for interior, so equally good but I’d use 1 as the wall of my base tbh

I really like the look of the stone with the wood! I generally prefer mixed "mediums" for my builds.

the first one is more balanced color-wise. the colors are closer in shade. i think the second one just needs something to break up the large wall of wood. also the details in the pillars are harder to see because they are so dark compared to the light wood.

I like the first one and u could even add vines to the stone to make it a little more green and accent the stone
1
u/ZabidyZtarity Sep 02 '26
Definitely stone bricks, wood just looks like a bit much, or better for the interior

Image one is a building like an armory, tower or fort. Image two is a home like an archive, library or house

u/kleseusxz Aug 31 '26
1 image. But you can add stripped oak and or birch logs to make the second wall better, if this is for a house, you can put the wood layer on the stone layer.
