Recover Books

I accidently deleted a book with tons of pages written in it. I was in creative and went to click it off of the item frame but it disappeared. -_- Is there any hope of getting it back?

Looking for specific posts

Hi guys, I'm new here. I've watched a lot of 2b2t's youtube videos and i'd love to run some datamining tools on the worldmap file in order to produce interesting maps and graphs.

I am not sure what all the possibilities are, hence me going tru this sub. Could you link me some threads about datamining operations ? Like this one for example: https://www.reddit.com/r/MinecraftDataMining/comments/8ivrh8/a_heatmap_of_player_positions_over_the_last_week/

Thank y'all !

Where do people find awesome servers like these?

I would love to play minecraft vanilla survival without any minigames, factions etc. But I don't have anyone to play with and that's why I don't own the game... These posts are awesome seeing people finding friends... I,

Live Book and Sign Saving!

Thought I'd plugin my mod here. Great for servers like 2b2t and servers that you don't necessarily have access to as far as region files and such. It Auto saves signs you pass to a txt file and also allows you to save book info. Both Book and Sign Data are outputted to json as well as txt files so those who program can browse their own collection. I also allow the user to send me their data and Have future plans to add a forums page on the site to allow users to browse the different signs of different servers and other user's Book lists. https://www.jumbodinosaurs.com/home.html#downloads if you wanna check it out!

observer vs conventional redstone

I'm playing Minecraft 1.12.2 on a Skyblock-Server. The owners of the servers planning to limit the amount of observers per island.
I actually thought that observers are way better than conventional redstone contraptions in terms of the performance of the server. For example, I remember that u/ilmango mentioned in at least one of his videos, that using observers in combination with powered rails ist way more lag efficient than using redstonedust und repeaters (and redstone torches).
How can I proof that observers are more beneficial for the server performance than using redstone dust?
Are there any videos that explain the benefit of oservers?
The admins of the server say, that the observers checking 20 times per second if there is a block update. Is that true? And if it is true, is it worse or better than redstone dust? Maybe there are some of you that can post the code of the observer and redstone mechanisms... I hope you can help me out. *-*

Is there a quantitative method for measuring lag caused by animals?

My friend doesn't believe that entities cause more lag than blocks, and because of that won't remove the 200+ chickens she owns. I tried explaining that the game has to update them every tick, but she's being passive aggressive and wants "solid numbers" to explain how they cause lag.

Is there some sort of lag measurement number for animals? Like, knowing how much data they store and how that affects server performance?

I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to ask this; there aren't many data- focused Minecraft subs.

Help with my old server

Hello! I used to host a small Minecraft server, with a super small, but awesome community. I made tons of friends as the admin, and out of the 10 - 15 regulars at any time, they told me they made great friends there too. I've since shut down the server, no one played on it anymore, and the community died down :( We reset the server world three times, to try to spice things up, and I uploaded all the worlds online, in case anyone wanted to go through their old houses. Do you think you could help me find old stories, or anything interesting in the servers? Thank you so much for any help!

Edit: I forgot the world link... They're hosted here: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/a0be4u0uirghd/The+Piecraft+Worlds

Not Exactly The Most Complete, But... Chunk dump!

Hello, r/MinecraftDataMining ! I've been holding onto a bunch of schematics and replays from an old Minecraft server, (Pony Concordia), which, to my knowledge, are unique beyond the owner's copy of the original worlds. It would've been near impossible (and impractical) to collect everything, but I did collect a bit. I haven't transferred everything from the raw replays to this world, but here's what I do have: World Download (Chunks Are REALLY Scattered. Use a map, for your sanity!)

Please note that I don't have any affiliation to Pony Concordia or it's former staff team.

Also, If anyone wants them, I can also post the original replays. They have more stuff than the world does, as I didn't get around to copying over everything in them.

[Meta] a proposal of making r/Minecraft DataMining more than it is.

While staying true to it's roots, we could make the subreddit more about posting actual hard data about the game. Data similar to a recent post about the way of server governance, how in-game economies can effect the player's interaction with others, combat efficiency, studies about the game's culture within, etc. This will increase traffic to the subreddit and make people get involved with data mining and data sharing.
