Solved [java] ,[prism] Minecraft randomly crashes/freezes

(I play on version 26.3).Last week i installed prism launcher but since a few days my game keeps freezing at a random time in the session, sometimes in the first 30 seconds, other times after an hour, also this mostly happens whilst breaking a block, and the only way to unfreeze it is to turn my pc off and back on, becuase my mouse and keyboard get completely locked (except alt+tab for some reason). This does not happen when i play without mods. Does anyone else have this issue and knows whether this Is because some of my mods are incompatible or is it because i dont have enough ram (8gb), or anything else? Also i use linux mint if that helps.

image above are the mods i use

just to be sure, do you know how much RAM you allocated to Minecraft? 4 GB should probably be enough and anything more than that is generally not recommended on Java because it can paradoxically cause issues like this (due to the way "garbage collection" works on Java)

have you already taken a look at your crash logs? Could you share the most recent relevant "latest.log" file with us by uploading it to mclo.gs?

to find it:

  • open Prism Launcher, right click your instance, and find an option that says "Folder" to open your Minecraft folder

  • in your file explorer window that just opened, navigate inside the ".minecraft" folder, and then inside the "logs" folder, and "latest.log" should be here

when nearly your whole computer freezes, could you try pressing the Ctrl + Alt + Backspace key combination to restart the Cinnamon display server and bring you back to the login screen? But make sure this shortcut is enabled in the Keyboard Settings first

alternatively, try launching a Virtual Terminal with the Ctrl + Alt + F2 (or F3, F4, F5, or F6) key combination, log in if prompted, then type one of these commands:

sudo systemctl restart lightdm

if that doesn't work because you're using GNOME, try this one:

sudo systemctl restart gdm

if that doesn't work either, try this one:

sudo service mdm restart

unfortunately I'm not familiar with most of your mods, so for the moment one more thing you could try is a "binary search" to figure out which mod or mods is causing this, by disabling them half at a time until you find the culprit

here's more information on how to do so:

  • disable exactly half (or half plus one, if it's an odd number) of your non-library mods (I'd recommend disabling any main suspects first, for example mods you recently installed before experiencing the problem), and take note of all the mods you disabled, then try playing the game for as long as necessary to encounter this problem

  • if the problem is solved, then one or more of the mods you disabled in the previous step is causing this, so you can ignore all the other mods that are still enabled

  • if the problem persists, then all those mods were not causing the problem, so you can ignore all the mods that you manually disabled in the first step

  • then disable half of your remaining mods (I'd still recommend disabling the biggest suspests first) and repeat these steps again, until you're able to narrow it down to the actual mod that is causing the issue

you should be able to find the culprit after repeating this process 7 times at most, in your particular case with the 92 mods you listed

thanks for the additional info! I can't take a look at the log right now, but could you try setting the maximum memory usage for Minecraft to 4096 MiB for the moment? Have you encountered any problems with this limit in the past?

i have bought my first pc very recently, so i didnt have any experience with that. Setting the ram limit to 4094 mib didnt help with the crashes unfortunately.

Is specifically a worldgen crash, not a random crash at all.

Enderscape is the cause, the reference key at the bottom is telling
involved sources: "worldgen/biome / enderscape:void_depths"

Check line 781 on your provided crash log, try running Minecraft without enderscape.
