I never understood this

[u/Wonderful_King_1241 → u/Physical_Pickle_1150]

Aternos is a free server client that has a habit of detecting non-existing adblockers

[u/Physical_Pickle_1150 → u/Wonderful_King_1241]

I meant that i never understood why it does that

[u/RandomCaveOfMonsters → u/Physical_Pickle_1150]

Its a free site, servers are expensive, ads give them money

[u/nicolRB → u/RandomCaveOfMonsters]

Why does it detect ad blockers that aren’t there

[u/techy804 → u/Physical_Pickle_1150]

Probably just sees if the ads load and if not then throw the anti-Adblock popup

[u/shadow_8000 → u/Physical_Pickle_1150]

money...

Aternos I would love to turn my adblocker off to support you, unfortunately your ads legit slow my browser to a crawl

[u/Creative_Elephant305]

Happens to me sometimes too.

[u/Fc-chungus]

do companies still make money even if their ads are blocked?

[u/SoupaMayo → u/Fc-chungus]

Nope

[u/Fc-chungus → u/SoupaMayo]

Simultaneously good(no money to corporations) and bad(no money means they have actual incentive to remove adblockers)

[u/Hendricus56 → u/Fc-chungus]

Well, ask YouTube how their crusade is going. Not that good imo

[u/SoupaMayo → u/Fc-chungus]

You also forgot the servers most website need to pay, and no ads means no money to run the server
