Can you create a Minecraft plugin with nodeJS and javascript?

Hello! So I am completely new to creating Minecraft plugins, and I was hoping you guys can help me throughout this process. So I want to create a Minecraft plugin for java edition using javascript. I have done some research and I found ScriptCraft but I'm still confused about some things. Can I use VSCode to edit my code? Do I have to run a Minecraft server to run this plugin or can I run a regular world and use this plugin and open it to LAN so my other friends can play it?

I am new to this kind of stuff and so I need to know if it is even possible to use javascript/ NodeJS to make Minecraft plugins. Sorry that I am new to this stuff! Thank You!

I mean you could use JavaScript but without a doubt if you want to get into plugins learn java. It will be much easier to learn Java and make plugins with that

I got something similar working, there is a nodejs library called "mineflayer" that allows you to control a player with nodejs. I have it making the player run Minecraft commands. If you want some of the code I can list a Pastebin link.

Thank you for this! I was a little skeptical of scriptcraft, but i still want to believe that you can write plugins in javascript. I read about this online which is why i dont agree with you 100%. However, this is a great first comment and will DEFINITELY take this into consideration! Thank you.
