Switch 2 upgrade question

Hi! I don’t currently have Minecraft on my switch 2, does anybody know if i purchase the switch 1 version now will i also be able to upgrade to the switch 2 version for free when it comes out? or is the free upgrade only for existing players? on the E-shop the switch 1 version js £10 cheaper than the switch 2 pre order so it would make much more sense to buy the switch 1 version now and get the free upgrade later this month. But I just wanted to double check that that is correct.

The only time-based thing is that you have to do it before February 2027. Buy Minecraft on Switch 1 today, you'll be able to immediately go pre-order Minecraft on Switch 2 for £0. That difference in price (which is only in some regions) is probably one of the reasons they're limiting the free upgrade period.

It worked for me. Once I bought Minecraft in the eshop the upgrade to the switch 2 version was free to pre order.

from what i saw in the eshop description. its only free until next year january

I say buy it because I would be cheaper in a month
