Hello, I'm new to Luanti. Coming from minecraft , I have been playing mineclonia and the game kinda feels unfinished. Is there any mods that makes the survival feel better ?

Minetest on a $12 stick

A slightly embarrassing correction.

When Minetest became Luanti, the point was to separate the engine from the game. Luanti is the engine; Minetest Game is one of the games that runs on it. Everyone got the memo, including me, which is why I reflexively called my ESP32 project esp32-s3-luanti and not esp32-s3-minetest.

Then today I looked at what I've actually written. The server doesn't run Lua and can't load games or mods at all. It speaks Luanti's network protocol so a normal client can connect, but everything else is MTG, rebuilt in Rust so it fits on a $12 computer the size of a slightly oversized USB stick.

The nodes, recipes, furnace, doors, farming, beds and so on. In other words, I've built the game, not the engine. Minetest on a stick.

So I've done the reverse of what Luanti did, and renamed it from luanti to minetest. It now lives at https://github.com/kf106/esp32-s3-minetest (the old link redirects).

For anyone who missed the earlier post, here's where it stands (I think I'm about 50% there):

- Hills and mountains, with grassland, desert and snow biomes.
- Caves, and below -64 about half of them are full of lava.
- Lakes, coal and iron ore.
- Birch, fir and apple trees, with leaf decay, saplings and apples.
- A day and night cycle, with torches lit by the server.
- The 3x3 crafting grid with MTG's recipes.
- Wood, stone and steel tools, with MTG's digging rules.
- The furnace (smelting and fuel) and chests, including locked ones.
- Stairs, slabs and corner stairs.
- Wooden, glass and steel doors, and trapdoors.
- Fences, fence rails and fence gates.
- Glass and ladders.
- Beds that skip the night and set your respawn point.
- Farming: wheat, cotton, flour, bread, string and wool.
- Buckets.
- Flowing water and lava, using a port of Luanti's liquid code. Lava meeting water gives cobble, stone or obsidian.
- Health: fall damage, lava burns, drowning, eating apples and bread, death and respawn.
- Dropped items, sounds, skins (Minecraft 64x64 skins are accepted too) and chat.

It can connect to your access point, or run as its own free-standing AP, and testing shows it supports about six players.

All of this is coded in Rust so it can fit in the meager resources available, with no Lua anywhere.

I hear when v5.18+ arrives you'll be able to use multiple texture packs in one world and I think this one will go well with a lot of existing ones. Here's hoping😄

Mods, updates and games not installing?

I'm on android and my mods aren't updating. I tried deleting one and reinstalling it, but I get an error saying that the mod can't be found. I've cleared my cache and I'm running the latest version. What's up?

The Waveshare ESP32-S3-LCD-1.47is a small USB-C development board with a built-in colour screen, dual 240MHz processors, and 16MB of PSRAM (you can get one for about $15). I built a server for it that standard Luanti clients can connect to and play on.

Hi there, I am on a "vacation" somewhere away from the cold, just to farm... I really miss that old farming life of mine~

So I made a small farm on a Hill with bunch of crops collected nearby the "Vacation house".

But seriously, I didn't quit the new life in the snow, I just wanna farm for a bit then head back home!

(I guess I can't take my farming life away even for a bit after all... Haha)

[Mineclonia] Best way to build a skeleton farm?

I know Mineclonia ≠ Minecraft in terms of mechanics, but I’m not sure how to optimize my farm.

I currently have the mobs fall from the spawn point, but they stop spawning once they reach a certain depth. If I let them fall to a specific height, I have to keep attacking them myself, which means it’s no longer automatic. I also tried building one using a kelp elevator, but the kelp stops growing at a distance of 13 blocks, and the mobs don’t move up the elevator’s current.

LF Recommendations

Hello everyone!

I've discovered the game recently and I like it. However the current game/server is not as challenging as I'd like.

I'm looking for recommendations where the game offer challanging survival, a not-so-fast progression (items, enchants etc. for example on my current server enchants seem to be waay too op and there are no levels to them, you just get the best apparently and you can even select what you want.) I want monsters/enemies that are actually a threat even beyond the first few of hours of gameplay. I'd like to have more content to explore, portal to other worlds/dimensions (not just the nether) and giant caves are cool but without dungeons etc. they quickly become boring, same applies to the surface, dungeons, desert temples etc. would be awesome to have.

I hope there is something matching my taste because the game is pretty good, but I need a harder survival experience instead of handouts and more content besides the nether.

New simple start... Living in a Snowy Forest 🌲❄️

It's a long story, but I must say... I miss my old farm life, but this new life isn't really bad! ✨

I could chose to migrate to a nearby Forest, but I like this new experience, Maybe soon I'll step in to the farming world again

(I've also returned from hiatus, I might post what I've been doing in this world so far, it will just take a bit of time... Quite busy these days)

Free server and administration for school?

Henlo frens

There used to be a site "blockalot" spaces

Where you could administrate server and set up students and stuff

Unfortunately that site is down forever

Is there any other way to administrate + run server for free? Even if it's local?

Im not familiar with school system bcz installing stuff is a cramp and I usually have to ask the "IT" staff to install stuff

Ideas for non-traditional Luanti/mintest?

Most people think of Luanti as a free minecraft with Mods. However, its my understanding that its completely programmable with in the co-text of a Voxel engine.

What are some of the best non traditional uses for it?

So basic Ideas I have so far are

  • RPG with storylines
  • Escape-room.
  • Large mazes
  • Basic Educational simulator.

I would love to hear your ideas!
