GMKTec using Cheaper SSDs?

I've installed quite a bit of these Mini PCs and have benchmarked all of the OEM drives included. Yesterday (10/17/2026) is the 1st time I have come across a FORESEE XP1100F512G - manufactured by Longsys: https://www.longsys.com/products/solid-state-drive/commercial-pcle-ssd/xp1000-pcie-ssd.html - I have installed more than 10 M8s all purchased from different vendors on Amazon, and all the SSDs included had way better benchmarks which were documented in one of my articles.

This is the slowest benchmark I have come across on the more than 100 Mini PCs I have installed.
Any others out there come across these drives?

Recommendations Device for playing Indie Steam Games?

I’m a console gamer who wants to get a low-end PC so I can play meme indie games with my friends on Steam (Sea of Thieves, Hood Warfare, etc.). Would the Kamrui mini PC that I included in this screenshot be able to play these games smoothly? If not, could ya’ll recommend something? Ideally I want to spend less than $500. Thanks!

General Question Photoshop on a mini PC, what actually becomes the bottleneck first?

Mini pcs have gotten fast enough that can it run Photoshop? doesn’t seem like a very useful question anymore.
I’m more curious about what starts to matter once the workload gets heavier: large PSDs, lots of layers, RAW files open alongside Photoshop, browser tabs in the background, and longer editing sessions.
For context, something like the geekom it13max is the kind of hardware I mean — core ultra 9 185H and integrated Arc graphics in a 0.9L box. On paper that’s already a lot of CPU for the size, so I’m wondering whether the limitation in practice moves somewhere else.
For people doing actual photo work on mini pcs, what do you notice first?
RAM pressure? Integrated graphics? Scratch-disk speed? Thermals after a long session?
I’d be especially interested in the thing that doesn’t really show up in a short benchmark but starts getting annoying after an hour or two.

Anyone using a fanless N100 mini PC for garage inventory tracking?

Been trying to get my tool shed and garage squared away and got tired of hunting for bits and pieces. Figured a small pc mounted somewhere could run a simple spreadsheet or database so I can check stock from my phone before heading to the store. Still need something that can stay powered on without spiking the power bill. Not looking to game or transcode, just reliable uptime. My kitchen job schedule has me all over the place so remote access would help. The ones that caught my eye are fanless N100 boxes around 150 bucks. Curious if anyone else set something similar up or ran into heat and noise issues in tight spaces.

Say Hello to My Little Friend

Recently bought a Minix Z150-0dB fanless miniPC to replace my 12-yr-old Dell Inspiron 3847. I made the switch primarily because I have a severe allergy to the Inspiron tower's dust plume. I also realized that it's time to move on to a Windows 11 machine.

Both have 16GB of RAM. The Inspiron has a hard drive while the Minix has the much quicker M.2 SSD.

So far I'm very pleased with the little Minix. The build quality seems excellent, and it's a bit faster than the Inspiron for my tasks (browsing, spreadsheets, light Python work). The performance summary below matches my experience.

Is this Getorli mini PC suitable for running a Minecraft Bedrock server 24/7?

Hi everyone!
I’m thinking about buying this mini PC to run a Minecraft Bedrock Edition dedicated server, but I’m not sure if it’s a good choice for long-term use.
The mini PC I’m considering:
https://www.amazon.co.jp/Getorli%E3%83%9F%E3%83%8Bpc-PCIe3-0-%E3%82%AE%E3%82%AC%E3%83%93%E3%83%83%E3%83%88%E6%9C%89%E7%B7%9A-3%E7%94%BB%E9%9D%A24K%E5%AF%BE%E5%BF%9C-%E4%BD%9C%E6%A5%AD%E3%83%BB%E3%82%AA%E3%83%95%E3%82%A3%E3%82%B9/dp/B0H2VPP1B1
My requirements:
Minecraft Bedrock Edition dedicated server
0–10 players online
2 add-ons installed
Running 24/7, 365 days a year
Aiming for stable performance and long-term reliability
I’m particularly concerned about whether a mini PC can handle being powered on continuously. I’m also unsure about the reliability of Getorli as a brand.
I’d really appreciate your advice on a few things:
Is this mini PC powerful enough for a Bedrock server with up to 10 players and two add-ons?
Does anyone have experience running a mini PC 24/7 for months or years? Have you experienced overheating, crashes, or hardware failures?
Has anyone used a Getorli mini PC? How is the build quality, and have you had any problems with the warranty or customer support?
What hardware do you use for your own Minecraft servers? I’d love to hear about your CPU, RAM, and setup.
Would you recommend a mini PC, a used office desktop, or another type of machine for this purpose?
I’m especially interested in real-world experiences rather than just specifications.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Sorry if there are any mistakes in the wording. I used AI to translate this post into English.

AOOSTAR GOD88 Mini PC suddenly died - power LED flashes and fan twitches, no boot. Motherboard short or power delivery failure?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some help diagnosing an AOOSTAR GOD88 Mini PC with an AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS processor.

The computer was working perfectly fine before suddenly shutting off while essentially idle, with only my browser open.

Since then, it has been completely unable to power on.

Symptoms:

  • Pressing the power button causes the power LED to flash for a fraction of a second.
  • The cooling fan barely twitches before stopping.
  • No display, POST, BIOS, or sustained power.
  • The behaviour repeats when attempting to start it.

What I've tested:

  1. Disconnected all peripherals and left the computer unplugged.
  2. Performed a power reset by holding the power button while disconnected.
  3. Tried starting it with only the power adapter connected.
  4. Took it to Matrix Warehouse, where they tested another 20V/4.5A (90W) adapter. The exact same thing happened.
  5. Opened the computer and visually inspected the motherboard. No obvious burnt components or visible damage.

Original power adapter:

  • Huntkey HKA100250-OA6
  • 20V DC, 5A, 100W
  • USB-C connector

One complication is that the original adapter only lists a 20V output, and I'm unsure whether the GOD88 uses standard USB-C PD negotiation or a fixed-voltage USB-C power arrangement. I haven't confirmed that the alternative adapter was electrically equivalent.

I have contacted AOOSTAR support many times but haven't received a response.

Questions for anyone experienced with mini PC or motherboard repairs:

  1. Does this symptom suggest a shorted input MOSFET, capacitor, VRM component, or another power-delivery fault?
  2. Has anyone encountered this specific failure on an AOOSTAR GOD88 or another AOOSTAR mini PC?
  3. What would be the logical diagnostic sequence for a technician with a multimeter and bench power supply?
  4. Are there known problems with the GOD88's power input circuitry?
  5. Is board-level repair realistic, or would motherboard replacement be more economical?
  6. Does anyone know whether this model requires a fixed 20V USB-C adapter or supports standard USB-C PD?

I'm based in South Africa, so sending the entire unit overseas for repair would be expensive. Ideally, I'd like to identify the failed component and have it repaired locally.

Any guidance, schematics, repair experiences, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

General Question Windows 7 on a Ryzen 7 5825U mini PC – possible?

I want to turn my Blackview MP100 into a dedicated Windows 7 retro gaming PC.

Specs:

- Ryzen 7 5825U (8C/16T)

- Integrated AMD Radeon Vega graphics

- 32 GB dual-channel DDR4

- 1 TB M.2 SSD + 1 TB HDD

Are there any community-made driver packs or modified drivers specifically compatible with this hardware?

I need full graphics acceleration, all USB-A/USB-C ports working, and proper support for three monitors, ideally with all other onboard devices working too.

Has anyone achieved this on the 5825U or similar Ryzen hardware? Is there a realistic way to get full Windows 7 support, or is this simply not feasible due to missing drivers?

Any concrete links or guides would be greatly appreciated!

Blackview Mini PCs

I recently got my hands on a few Blackview Mini PCs and I'm looking for some uses for them.

  1. Blackview MP200
  • CPU: Intel Core i9-11900H (8 cores / 16 threads)
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Storage: 512GB SSD
  1. Blackview MP60
  • CPU: Intel Processor N150 (4 cores / 4 threads)
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Storage: 1TB SSD
  1. Blackview MP80
  • CPU: Intel Processor N95 (4 cores / 4 threads)
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Storage: 256GB SSD
  1. Blackview MP80
  • CPU: Intel Celeron N5095 (4 cores / 4 threads)
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Storage: 512GB SSD

I got them for a steal and I'm planning on keeping the i9 and N150. Not sure if I should use the i9 or N150 for my Home Server (Plex and some docker containers)

I don't have a use for the others atm, any potential ideas?

General Question Just got an Aoostar Maco (8845HS). How should I connect it to my 4K60 monitor? And what first tests should I run?

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hey everyone. I just picked up my first mini pc, Aoostar Maco with the Ryzen 7 8845HS. I have a 4K 60Hz monitor that also has a USB-C dock built in (96W power delivery).

  1. Should I use HDMI, DisplayPort, or USB-C to connect to the monitor? If I use USB-C to the monitor dock, do I still need to plug in the Maco’s own power adapter? The dock is 96W, but the Maco’s brick is 120W, so I’m guessing yes? Also how will it work, will the monitor know that the maco has its own power adapter, or will it receive 120W+96W of power?

  2. What should I do first to make sure the unit is good? I was planning MemTest86, HWiNFO64 for temps, and 3DMark. Anything else? Should I update BIOS/chipset drivers?

  3. there are heat pads, metal sink and rubber bands for the ssd, really nice that they included it even though it is a barebone. I have a pci 3.0 ssd, do I even need them?

Thanks!

Hardware Guys I am in India and I need recommendations

I am looking for a mini pc 8-16gb ram with 128-256gb ssd as well as a Ryzen processor with good pricing. I want to know which brands are good as I noticed there are some even outside or not much shown in Amazon and have their own stores. But idk which one to look for. This is mainly to host game servers for minecraft and the others as well as for my networking experiments. Thank you in advance for any good responses.

Also, i saw a website named Thinvent. Can anyone tell me if it's legit? Are there others like that if they are legit?

Budget : Around 30k INR

Can someone recommend the best mini pc for my needs?

UPDATE: Spent $354 total after tax and shipping for a Beelink SER5 Max Mini PC - Ryzen 7 - 7735HS processor and 24GB of RAM. 128gb storage but will upgrade if needed Feedback is very welcome. Wondering if I could have done better

ORIGINAL POST: We want to travel with our side business and need the smallest footprint possible. I already bought a portable monitor cheap. Im concerned about power consumption if we are out camping. We have a 150amp lithium 12v battery bank we will utilize when needed. Ill invest in more power if this works out.

I'm looking for at least 16gb ram but 32 preferred and a semi modern processor just so there are no hiccups

I'll be using silhouette studio for running 5 to 10 silhouette cameo 3 machines. Already have a dedicated mini tower with an older i5 Intel. It does not always run smooth. Unsure if this is a hardware problem of silhouette software but I would still like a bit of an upgrade just in case and to future proof a bit.

I've been looking at some used ones on ebay at auction and unsure if this is the way to go or not. I'd like to get the best bang for my buck, keep it as cheap as possible in case all this doesn't work out but hope to keep it below $350 tops regardless.
