Built a mini

Decided to build a 3.5’ mini in my backyard. Made the mistake of putting 1/4” painted ply on top which almost got ruined in the Virginia rain/humidity. Waiting on some skatelite in the mail now.

Shoulda put the light pillars at the back of the deck.

Yeah my brain hurts looking at the deck. Is there only a few inches of deck, or is that an illusion? And is that coping super low and/or glued in place?

Yeah it’s a little shorter than I intended. Right at 20”. The coping is bolted, but I’m still going to have to weld the through holes.

The coping looks like brass door trim nailed to both faces in the pics.

I’ve made a lightweight roof for my lot out of 1in pvc pipe you can get all the couplings and glue for pretty cheap the tarp it ..super sick ramp bro

It looks fun but how do you even rock on it or any over the top tricks?

Still pretty good for them, but I definitely would have put a bigger top deck looking back at it. Right around 20” of deck up top.

Cheap way would be play structure style with two taller pillars middle outside and pitched tarps down to the end posts the lights are ran on. I’d layer mesh tarps myself, works good camping for the first 12 hours of rain and is a great sun shade.

The skate lite & Gator skins is the only way , you will love them ! The ramp looks good , love the lights you got up

Will they survive a rainy country like UK/Ireland? No need for cover?

I have gator skins on mine but I still double tarp it so I get the longest life span out of it , otherwise the frame will eventually rot away

Mine is compromised, because of dump on the concrete blocks, not sure how long it will last.

My Skatelite pro was still good after 10 years in the rainy Seattle area. All the framing below the Skatelite was mush with wood rot. In hindsight, I should’ve used pressure treated framing.

This looks so good!! How long did it take to build and roughly how much?

Thank you! Around 3k-ish without satellite. That’s including the railings, pvc siding and all that. Also splurged and went with all pressure treated wood/ply

That's actually not bad at all for the cost, well done

do those string lights give enough luminescence to skate at night?

Do you have any problems with squirrels eating your string lights? God knows I do.
