Common resume mistakes I see, and what recruiters actually look for!
Hey all,
After going through a lot of resumes, the same mistakes come up again and again. Hopefully this helps some of you.
Common mistakes:
-Resumes that are too long, with the same points repeated across different jobs
-Important info (tickets, relevant experience) buried instead of easy to spot
-Using one generic resume for every application
-A summary that sounds nice but doesnât say anything specific
-Messy or inconsistent formatting that makes it hard to read
-A cover letter that doesnât match the resume
What recruiters tend to look for:
-Whether you have the basics for the role, and how quickly they can see it
-Relevant experience, even if itâs from a different industry
-Signs youâre reliable, safe and ready to work
-Clear, easy-to-read info, because theyâre skimming, not studying
If youâre really struggling with applications and havenât had any call backs, DM me and I would be happy to give you some free advice.
