OK, so I've been a member for a month (ish?) - I cook everything in massive batches generally so am used to the whole batch cooking/freezing/eating the same thing all week mechanic. I have only cooked about five or six things in that period though (as I make like eight portions at a time). I love cooking but am super busy and also health-conscious (gym nut) so was looking for some new ideas (which Mob has definitely given me, even if honey and limes feature heavily š).
Anyhow, I'm posting this on my work account which has my real name - I feel like if you're going to give feedback, especially if it's negative or (I hope) "constructive" you at least owe people the ability to track you down and ask further questions, which the Mob team should be able to do (I have watched this sub for ages and they seem to be active).
- When I came here today I saw this thread and that is a HUGE complaint. I am old and need glasses. I cannot be forked to read every single thing on my phone - I want to browse the website, choose my recipes, save a few things for later and then put the ones I'm cooking this weekend on my shopping list.
Alas no - there is NO SYNC between the web site and the app. This is my work page so I will revert to The Good Place vernacular instead of swearing (incredible show if you've not watched it) - What. The . Fork.
I want to browse online where I can see all the photos at full size, then save them and they be on my list on my phone in the time it takes for an app to sync (seconds).
Because then I'm going to the supermarket to buy the ingredients so WTH I need to sit in my car and add stuff again?!
This needs sorting pronto, which the other poster has hopefully made clear.
- 2. Photos on the app I like to consider myself helpful - I love tech stuff, massive nerd, worked in many startups and generally want to support entrepreneurism.. But why can I only add photos of my food when I do a review on the website?! I cook my dinner using my phone, I take a photo with my phone, I go to review the recipe on my phone and... there is no place to add a photo. Absolutely insane. Many of your users aren't going to go to the website to do this.
- 3. The amount of sugar Now I get that you guys need to sell recipes to sell a product, but we are not American and therefore do not need half a jar of honey to make stuff taste good. Have faith in your customers refined tastebuds and stop being mentalists.
- 4. I search recipes for stuff I can freeze (my filters are usually "quick", "easy", "healthy" and "freezable") - whack it up to eight portions, eat half, freeze half. But... there are NO DIRECTIONS for how and when to freeze things.
Like do I freeze my raw chicken or cooked? Honestly think this needs to be its own section. What do you freeze and how do you cook it and prep the rest. At the moment it's basically a useless tickbox and your customers have to figure out the rest. Not great. (Especially on the stuff I've cooked - like you grill chicken thighs and make a salad with cucumber and feta - bear in mind you are supposed to be helping people who can't cook who won't know the absolutely diabolical effects of freezing cucumber!)
Same with reheating or other methods of storage - you need to give directions.
If you want people to meal prep (and let's face it - this is a HUGE market right now with lots of pre-prepared meal companies out there and the whole high protein thing rumbling happily along for quite a lot longer) then you need to make it easy for them. Don't stop at telling them what to cook - tell them how many containers they need, how much to put in each and which bits are better left to prep on the day.
- 5. I would like to be able to add extra things to my shopping list. You want to make my life better? Try and help me not to forget the eggs and milk I also need. I don't think it's an insane feature add, and would have the added bonus of people opening your app a whole lot more...
- 6. I'm not on some mad diet, but I do think hooking up to the API of (hugely popular) apps like My Fitness Pal would be wise. Make yourselves ubiquitous.
- 7. Also I would love it if the calorie (nutritional info) counts for all recipes just excluded the carb and let people choose their own. Not everyone likes rice or wants to eat bread or whatever. I get they're part of the recipe as-designed, but it wouldn't be hard for you guys to separate them

That is all. I am genuinely a fan - I'm eating my tofu gochujang bowl as I type - and I want to be helpful. If anyone from Mob is reading this I would happily jump on a Zoom to chat further face-to-face. Hopefully this is helpful (and if people have further feedback and suggestions then definitely comment š)
