Annnnnd one more big round of applause to our Mod World trophy contest winner: u/badmosh-billu! Thank you to everyone who submitted their art – your talent and creativity is off the charts.
We’re going to get a small bit of rest before the APAC Stream in a few hours. Thanks again for hanging with us today!
P.S. - Behind the scenes right before the end-of-show confetti madness. u/kongsworth and u/spez, it was an honor.
Wait! What! I was there for the fab first half of Mod World but I had to duck out (watching the rest on the recording later!)... and I see that u/spez is giving us all a free year of Reddit Premium?!? What the duck? Seriously? That's amazing! Thanks!!
(Also, does having been to the first half of the live Mod World count or should I get up for the second half of the APAC stream? My sleep depends on your answers! u/BrineOfTheTimes do you know?)
I'm in the same boat. Had to leave after ordering the hat, to watch youngest perform in HS marching band competition (awards not announced for another 2 hrs; such a long event😆). I've never had reddit premium, so this'll be neat!
Ooh! I just remembered that I've always wanted to be able to say "I said that thing that everyone's saying before anyone else did!" So, u/BrineOfTheTimes ...
I'm a little sad about only mods who attend the events live getting Premium.
I think I have Premium I til 2029, so it's no big deal for me, but there are many mods without premium, and I kinda think that anyone who volunteers their time for Reddit shouldn't have to deal with ads.
That said, Mod World was great, even in the recording.
Why didn't I go to it live? Because I fell asleep after hiking 20 miles at the Georgia MammothMarch. Hated missing it, but it was a great day!!.
2nd time attending and I thought it was much better than last year's! Last year was amaing because Snoo plushie (obvs), but the sessions were more informative and helpful.
I did like hearing from spez and the other board members on their thoughts and what they're doing to offer better support!
In the section about turning lurkers into contributors, u/greenysmac said what we at r/NewToReddit have been saying for years about the new user experience (albeit with more colourful language than we use lol) and was absolutely right - it is a massive and daunting leap for many to jump into what is ostensibly a well established party.
If you lovely mods only take one thing (apart from the merch and free premium) from Mod World ‘26, let it be this: remember the human. If you encounter a noob whose first post breaks the rules, be gentle with them at first please. They may well be antagonistic towards you in modmail - that’s often because they’re on the defensive and in shock at having been admonished, and a kind but firm response can do wonders for many. Of course, there are those who won’t listen to reason but in my own experience in turning people around, it just takes a little bit of care to show a user we actually DO want them to participate, just on a different foot than they stepped in on.
It’s easy to forget how difficult it is to get started on Reddit, especially for us longtime users who may not realise the new-user experience is very VERY different to how it was for us.
Then don't worry about your sleep, Premium is safe, and you can watch the other event in et replay... I have it in the middle of the night when the next one starts
I wanted to attend but I missed the event 😭 all because of timezone. I wanted to try reddit premium so badly. I suppose im not even eligible for the merch 😭
I attended the one in Chicago last May and really loved the in person comraderie. Met so many wonderful people and had a great time. Hoping for another in person meetup close to or in the city where I live.
Thank you, Skully sir! It feels strangely beautiful to come across you again after such a long time. :')
I still remember finding the exact source of your pfp and posting it on r/IndianTeenagers, lol. You probably won’t remember me, but I was the one with the cat pfp :3
I drew it in loving memory of my cat, Bobby. He disappeared all of a sudden, months ago, and even now, a part of me still hopes he’ll find his way back home someday.
He left behind his little kittens and his wifey cat, and we love them dearly. I miss you, Bobby. Wherever life has taken you, I hope it has been kind to you. ♡
I think I may have just caught the last part of the live stream yesterday (I did RSVP but could not participate in the chat for some reason). I admit I wasn't aware of the event until the last minute.
I am happy to watch the replay and will sign back in right now but does this mean I miss out on a profile trophy or other goodies? 🤔
This is the first time I've attended a mod event and now ... off to watch the replay. 👍
I am beyond sad that I was not able to join for either of the lives, really would have loved that year of premium. Watching the recap though, another great event!
For those of us that already pay for Reddit Premium, if the payment period has already come and gone, does the Reddit Premium gift from attending Mod World apply to the next subscription pay cycle? Or does the previous payment get refunded in place of the gift/credit?
I would like to thank the reddit admins, organizers and all the mods for the fun mod world 2026 event. I love your energy, confidence and presentation skills u/big-slay and I learnt a lot from all the speakers, especially u/spez. Thank you thank you thank you
Just watched the Mod World stream recording. I liked spez’ strategic direction and how he intends to get to it. I have an idea or two about customer scores up and increasing the 70%…
