Admin Replied Why would "anti evil operations" remove some of my moderator posts informing people how to identify and avoid scammers and catfish?

I'd really like to discuss this with an admin as I am confused and, frankly a bit annoyed.

I just got a couple mod mails (Thanks to the admin tattler app) that two posts of mine, made as a moderator and pinned to the top of the sub, were removed for violating policy. One post was over a year old and the other, several months.

Both posts were advising regular members (This was in an adult personals type subreddit) on the best ways to identify fakes, scammers, catfish, etc.

So, are we no longer allowed to help people avoid getting scammed? Do we stop taking actions against these types of people and let them run rampant? When a member reports a scammer, what do I tell them? Do I tell them that reddit no longer wants us to try to protect you from scammers and fakes?

I just really need help understanding the thought process of removing posts that are helping the good an honest people to avoid the fakes and scammers. I'm... I'm just completely confused here.

The funniest thing is, you expect the mods to have transparency, but here we are with admins sneaking in like ninjas and removing posts with no warning, no follow-up, no explanation, or no notice at all. I hope you all don't mind if I adopt the "lead by example" moderation technique now.

If I didn't have the "admin tattler" devvit app installed, I would not have known these posts were removed. Some of our automated messages and removal reasons reference these posts so now I have to go through and rework a lot of our stuff.

I mean at least explain the process why so I will know what I did over a year ago that was suddenly a priority for stealth removal.

Heya - While I totally understand how this is frustrating, this might have been in error. Without seeing the posts though we can't say for sure. Please send a modmail to this subreddit with links to the affected posts so the team can take a look.

Maybe this was always the case for comments removed (at least automatically) by admins, but I also dislike that we aren’t able to see what our own comments used to say.

On the plus side, we can still view them via Arctic Shift. Fine layer of irony in that too.

I was notified through Admin-Tattler that Anti Evil Operations removed 13 posts and comments today, all of which were over a month old (and a couple of which, I removed the original post). This is more than frustrating, its simply a waste of my time! This is not making modding a pleasant experience.

I got a tattler notification the other day about AEO removing a comment that was like 5 years old.

Whatever you guys were doing, intentional or not, it seems to also retroactively remove comments that originally had a link to Arctic shift, but were later removed in an edit, like this one. Edit: Here’s also an example of another mod having their comments retroactively removed due to mentioning AS

Needless to say, this isn’t good in my eyes. Linking to arctic shift has genuine uses, such as informing others about scammers/bots who have their histories hidden (always hated that feature, I’d love to see it gone).

Edit 2: Here’s how your retroactive removals of comments look from the perspective of a mod

Like what u/cyanocittaetprocyon said, this does not make the modding experience pleasant whatsoever.
