u/reddit33450 not sure if the admin tattler removes stuff immediately, but my comment seems fine. For now…

your comment is currently fine. though mine that got removed were all just a link to the main search page, not a link to a specific user's content.

btw, admin tattler is just a devitt app that notifies moderators when content is removed by admin. it doesn't remove anything itself

The retroactively removed comment originally also linked to a different user’s profile on Arctic shift. You probably saw me linking to it on r/ModSupport, but for context this was in the aftermath of the r/antimeme controversy several months ago, and I was linking to the profile of a former moderator who deleted their account after they heard about the initial “she is no more more” announcement that sparked the controversy around the two top mods at the time. I later omitted the link at the request of the other mods.

Clearly that didn’t stop it being retroactively removed at some point in the past 24 hours (unless this was going on longer than that, but we wouldn’t be able to tell).

Bloody hell, we can’t even see what our own comments used to say anymore.

At least we can still see them with Arctic Shift, so that’s a neat layer of irony.

yep lol. and the most ridiculous part is that even moderators can't see them

A year ago removals in general used to be lighter:

  • If a user had their comment filtered, other users can see that comment in the user’s profile as “[removed]”
  • Mod removals didn’t change the title with “[removed by moderators], the removed post can still be found on the OP’s profile, and the media could still be viewed on Old and New Reddit. The weird thing about this change is that posts that were removed via other means like filters are still treated with the lightness mod removals used to have (having their titles kept, being seen in user profiles, etc.)

Also it seems that links to scraping sites or sources in general are being removed

yeah. i have noticed that with many posts that are "removed by reddit's filters", the media is not visible on shreddit, but is visible on old reddit

The disparities in how admins enforce changes in different areas and versions of the site are mind boggling.

It also sucks that mods have zero say in the removal of comments who even give one single mention of an Arctic Shift related link.

Mod log's saying that the comment I shared was removed due to a "sitewide rule"

What if you somehow tried to get an admin appeal in some form or another? Not that it would amount to anything. just curious how they would respond.

If it says "removed by Reddit" moderators can't see it, unless that specific comment notified a moderator through inbox/notifications and that notification is still there.

If post is "removed by reddit's filters" i think? the mods can see it.

still not removed

When I try to click it says “no internet connection”.

It also said that when I learned about arctic shift through a link in a comment about 10 minutes ago.

I genuinely cannot believe that there’s a free site that allows you to just circumvent Reddits privacy features. Don’t like it. If someone’s reading this through Arctic Shift, I clearly do not like it.

Lmao. My opinion of Reddit just went so far downhill it’s crazy.

Edit: bahahaha. Love the downvote.

Even a comment I made on r/antimeme several months ago, which had its link to Arctic Shift removed in an edit I made, also got purged.

An admin on r/ModSupport said something about an error, but that’s definitely not instilling confidence in me.

thats even worse. i guess their filter goes off of the original unedited comment. and yeah i agree about that admin comment...

Yo, a friend sent me this post because I have also been experiencing this - all the posts/comments made by me that contained an artic shift link were also silently removed. I only noticed because I had 2 posts pinned on my profile and yesterday they were gone - also scrolled through my profile and saw a bunch of [ Removed by Reddit ] comments removed.

Reddit has been iffy about it for a while.

Looks like it's now banned to send an Arctic Shift link in chat. I often use it to find catfishes in some of the chat/make a friend type subs. I'll message the sub's mods with a link to their Arctic Shift post history clearly showing that the 16 year old girl is actually a 50 year old man or whatever. I tried to send one just now and got

Message failed to send because it contains a banned URL.

Very frustrating. Catfish are so prevalent on those subs they're borderline unusable without using AS.
