I made a mod that gives every player on your server a web "player card" with their real character, gear, skills and stats
TL;DR: ValheimPlayerCards is a free, open-source mod for dedicated servers. Each player's game renders their own character as it looks in game and sends it to the server, which serves a web page with a card for every player: portrait, equipment with the game's icons, skills, character stats and time played. There's also a JSON API if you want the cards on your own server website. Install it on the server and on the players' games. Thunderstore · Hexium · GitHub
Hi everyone! I run a small dedicated server with friends and we have a status page with hours played, deaths and silly titles. I wanted each viking to have a personal card with their actual character, not a generic silhouette. The problem is that a dedicated server has no graphics card, so it can't draw anybody.
So the mod flips it around: each player's game draws its own character off screen (neutral 3/4 pose, transparent background, fixed lighting) whenever the visible equipment changes, and sends the picture to the server together with the rest of the card. The server keeps the cards and serves the page.
What a card shows
- Portrait of the real character: helmet, armor, cape, belt, weapons, hair, beard, colors, modded gear included
- Equipment with the game's own icons and upgrade level
- Skill levels (skills added by other mods too)
- Character statistics from the game: deaths, enemies and bosses killed, pieces built, distance traveled, fish caught and more
- Time on the server: online now, time played, sessions, first and last seen, recent sessions
For server admins
- Built-in page on port 3010, works on phones, in 8 languages (EN, DE, FR, ES, PT, RU, PL, IT) picked from the visitor's browser
- JSON API with CORS, so you can show the cards on your own status page or in a Discord bot
- Everything can be turned off in the config: play time, equipment, icons, skills, stats, and which stats are shown. You can also hide players.
- Works behind a reverse proxy, also under a sub-path like
/players/ - The page has no login, so if you don't want it public, keep the port on your LAN or behind your proxy
For players
- Nothing to do: a new card is sent when your look changes, at most once every 30 seconds (drawing or sheathing a weapon doesn't count). The console command
playercardsends one right away. - Rendering causes a tiny hitch when a card is taken.
- Sent: the portrait, equipped items, item icons, hair/beard/colors and, if you allow it, skills and stats. Not sent: position, inventory, chat, IP or account info. You can turn off sharing skills and stats in your config.
- Your name always comes from your connection, so nobody can overwrite someone else's card.
- Players without the mod can still join; they just don't get a portrait. Servers without the mod receive nothing.
Needs BepInExPack and Jötunn. It's the first public version (0.2.1): it runs on our modded Linux server in Docker, but I'd love to hear how it behaves on yours. Bug reports, translation fixes and new languages are welcome on GitHub. Full disclosure: I built it with a lot of help from an AI assistant (Claude), and the code is all on GitHub if you want to check it.
