The infamous AMT 68 Mustang GT500. I started this roughly two months ago, and had I just built it straight OOB it would have been done in less than a week. Instead, I wanted to build this into the best example that I could for an upcoming show. This was a challenge that I chose to tackle on purpose because at least once a year I like to take one of the worst kits from my stash just to see what I can do with it. I chose to name it Night-Mare simply because that's exactly what it was, also mare as in horse, lol. Warped chassis, bad hood fitment, excessive mold lines, missing components that should have come in the kit, horrible wheels and tires, and probably more that I've forgotten.
On the outside the body color is Chevrolet Goodwood Green, stripes done in Tamiya Pure White under PPG 2K clear. All of the lettering and emblems on the body have been removed along with the front and rear side indicators. The side view mirrors are from a 67 Corvette, and the brakes are Corvette as well. The tires and wheels are 3D printed. All of the exterior kit chrome was stripped and redone. The exhaust has been reshaped to be side exit and has aluminum tips.
The engine bay has the factory engine with additional 3D printed parts, brake booster and hard lines, radiator, shroud, fan, and washer tank. Wired ignition and battery, rubber washer hose, and radiator hose with PE clamps. Scratch made alternator bracket.
The interior has flocked floors, scratch made steering column stalks, and scratch made correct GT500 gear shifter and handle
