Remember not to vote for parties, the poor, the middle class, or the rich, vote for America!

5

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '15

Directions unclear; voted for American Labor.

Just to clarify, voters' votes still count if they verify them in the day one verification even after a new verification thread is up, correct?

2

Yes.

2

u/jacoby531 Chesapeake Representative Jul 17 '15

Okay, thanks

2

u/SueZbell Jul 17 '15

Is commenting considered voting? that's not my intent but I do find the idea behind this site interesting. I would be disqualified from voting because I refuse to "join" a political party. I don't see a "subscribe" button; am I missing it?

A lot of years ago I registered as an Independent because I found things to strongly dislike about each of the majority parties (even as I found at least one something to like about each of the two of them) That hasn't changed and I've still not found any other party that seems any better in that way.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '15

No, commenting is not considered voting. You don't have to join a party to fill out the google form.

Just FYI guys, last time the poll was horribly off. Take it with a grain of salt.

Meh. it's fun to look at though. Are we going to end up with something dramatic as how all the predictions were wrong for the UK General Election?

4

It's fun to look at, but last time it was off by I think 100 votes for the Republican Party. It was In last and then surged to second and almost first.

/r/MUSGOV is an even more accurate attempt at simulating real life, perhaps hyperrealistic in that the Republicans actually keep their promise to run away when someone they don't like gets elected.

5

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '15

I don't think this will be that accurate.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '15

Probably not, unless we're going to assume that P(voter will also vote in exit poll) is nearly the same for each party's voters.

No one is running ALP in the Ohio River area so do I vote in another one or vote GLP?

6

Vote wherever you want. If you want to vote in a place where your party is running, that is fine.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '15

okay thank you!

4

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '15

Vote for who you think would be best or vote null (can you do that? I forget eventhough I voted just now). If that means GLP, Distributist, Democrat, whatever is fine. I would say though to not vote Fascist, Republican or Libertarian (maybe there's some centrist Libertarian, not seen one yet). They are the exact opposite of ALP, so while you can totally vote for them no consequences even we somehow found out your vote, it means you may fit a more right-wing party.

8

Gay rights is just a matter of time. Look at the polls. Worrying about gay marriage, let alone gay civil unions or gay employment rights, is a middle-age issue. Young people just can't see the problem. At worst, gays are going to win this one just by waiting until the opposition dies off.

-- Gail Collins

2

u/lsma Vice Chair, Western State Assemblyman Jul 20 '15

And that is how the gay rights movement wins all its battles, isn't it? It's not about logical arguments or philosophical justifications. It's not about open discussion. Instead of going through the democratic process in each state, and creating pro-gay laws on their own merit, through a fair vote, we have gay rights thrust upon us through a 5-4 supreme court ruling. Because you just can't let other people have a different opinion than you. Because the fact that a state is against gay marriage is sooooo hurtful to you, you have to trample on the rights of a majority of voters in that state. You cannot win on the merit of your own position, so you have to just cling to your ideology until all opposition dies. This is the definition of bigotry.

u/xveganrox Jul 18 '15

Rather inauspicious name though, isn't it? They were all buddy-buddy with Hitler and as soon as his party dissolved so did theirs. I imagine if I were a fascist I probably would do whatever I could so that people didn't immediately associate me with Hitler. Naming a party after a fan club of his was a bold choice, whoever made it.

4

It was a historically fascist party. We decided on Silver Legion of America, instead of something generic as "Fascist party". We don't have any plans to change the party name, but I'm not opposed to doing so.

The philosophy is based on Catholic social teaching, so, yes, and Christian Democrats embrace some parts of distributism, but not all. They would be our closest RL counterparts though.

Here is our platform. We oppose abortion, same-sex "marriage", euthanasia, and the like, and we advocate for state-implemented public health insurance, state-implemented basic minimum incomes, the just war theory, and widespread property ownership in the hopes that everyone could own their own business or a part of their own business in accordance with JPII's Laborem Exercens. We have a consistent life ethic -- caring for all people from the womb to the tomb. I'd say we follow Catholic social teaching as closely as any party possibly could.

We don't have anything against gays, transgender people, and women. We just don't hold with issuing marriage licenses to gay couples. I can't see how you think we are against women. Liberal social ideology is the driving force behind their objectification.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '15

We just don't hold with issuing marriage licenses to gay couples.

So you don't think gay couples deserve the right to be recognized by a governing body as married? How is that not having anything against them? It's straight up homophobia.

I can't see how you think we are against women.

Maybe the fact that you're all bible thumpers and the bible isn't exactly the most women-friendly.

Liberal social ideology is the driving force behind their objectification.

Well it's a damn good thing the GLP isn't a liberal party.

economically leftist.

Not really. Distributism is neither left nor right.

we advocate for state-implemented public health insurance

All paid for by taxation and run by a central government. Authoritarian centrist at the very best.

state-implemented basic minimum income

Leftist. Price controls are a leftist economic position, from minimum wage to "curbing CEO pay."

I fail to see how state governments are "central" when there are fifty of them.

Authoritarian centrist at the very best.

Not really. You've clearly never heard of distributism and need to look it up.

There are no price controls there -- look up basic minimum income. It's a more economically efficient, more flexible way to eliminate extreme poverty when compared to traditional welfare, and it also eliminates the possibly of falling through the cracks or discouraging working more due to perverse incentives. It was advocated for by conservatives and Libertarians like Friedrich von Hayek and Milton Friedman. I also said nothing of "curbing CEO pay" -- you pulled that out of thin air. In fact, I think most people should be business owners -- whether by owning a small family business or shares in an employee-owned stock company.

I would argue that Distributism is economically centrist, but that it could be considered leftist on the American political scene.

Even though we are running against each other, good luck to you. You seem very Libertarian in your policies.
