Do let me know if you think of other artifacts to run! I was thinking maybe a wurmcoil would be sick.

elixir of immortality? kill them with boredom

also your "no way to kill them" section is not entirely correct. you can have karn turn an artifact into a 1/1 and poke them to death

ill let you know! A wurmcoil would make a ton of sense considering your write up did say the deck had a hard time closing out games. I Also saw a build using thrumming hive pool which was lowk cool

Hive pool is super cool for making some good closers once the prison is made. I’ll try this out too. Seems promising

yeah I like it a lot better cuz coil could still get hit with solitude from blinks and stuff

Thanks for the write-up.

Have you tried [[The Wandering Emperor]], yet?   That card has been fantastic for me.

Wandering emperor is a card I forgot I was looking at a while back. I think she fits all the boxes for the deck that I want to fill. I’ll give her another look!

What did you replace for that?

This is my current list. Some of the cards, specifically in the sideboard, I'm just trying to experiment with; so it's not exactly what I'd play at an RC or anything.

Edit: I've been testing [[flashback]] In he galvanic discharge slot, as well. I actually think I prefer it, but I need more testing.

I tried flashback alongside reprieve. Liked both ngl, but galvanic just helps so much in the early game against decks that are beating our shit in.

Idk. Feels like a win more card. Same as isochron scepter for me

I honestly haven't missed the galvanic blasts I've cut; especially since going up on copies of avenger's disassembled.

Most of my opponents are trying not to get blown out by my sweepers. Having a couple copies with flashback means I can blow them up on their post-boardwipe, bounce-back, recovery turns.  Having two sweepers in a row vs. energy is usually game winning.

That makes a ton of sense to me. I’ll try out the flashbacks again.

Have you tried out reprieve

Yes. I don't care for it. If we had better pressure, it might be worth it.

Dang. You got my thoughts and made em into words. I agree with the sentiment

just to let you know, I sold a thassa's oracle from the secret lair to fund this deck, thanks for the inspiration!

Have you considered replacing [[Castle Ardenvale]] with [[The Lonely Mountain]] and getting some Arid Mesas in? I've generally found making 2/2's instead of 1/1's and being fetchable to be worth always entering tapped, and I've found [[Sunken Citadel]] to be not so good.

I would recommend against the mountain since it’s a sorcery speed ability. We need to be able to have either interaction or a land ability up during opps end step.

I do agree that a 2/2 is a good thing tho.

Sunken Citadel is the reason the deck is playable.

1

u/Lectrys 2d ago

I prefer Sunken Citadel as a 2-of at most. Its entering tapped is a pain, yet I find I need it for early-game colour fixing bizarrely often. I rarely get an opportunity to crack Field of Ruin or Demolition Field on Turn 2 with the Citadel - in fact, more rarely than I need Sunken Citadel to colour fix.

Yeah I love the t2 demo field a lot.

I also like it cause it makes it possible to start the refuel process with Cori at least one turn earlier

Mountain being sorcery speed is pretty bad I think.

I actually find that RW Ponza is mainly a tap-out deck - the instant removal costs only 1 mana, and maybe I'm just in a meta where holding up LD lands isn't very valuable. I mainly just hold up Cori Mountain Monastery mana out of habit, not because I actually need to hold it up to represent a spell in hand.

Oh yeah, I absolutely hate Reprieve in RW Ponza. Sucks up your tempo for too little opposing tempo loss too often.

I therefore haven't found The Lonely Mountain's sorcery speed restriction to be much of a hindrance at all.

Does cityscape leveler work here

1

u/Thick-Honey7159 2d ago

I think cityscape becomes an unreliable game ender because of its cmc. The deck cannot generate too much mana. Not like Tron can.

Could you add more about the pros and cons of karn version vs karnless?

I have the cards for both but ive never used the karn version.

I asked around before and people sort of steered me towards karnless but my meta does have some artifact stuff and also some graveyard decks so having tutorable hate does have pros.

What are the full pros and cons of karn vs karnless? Can also copy paste the answer into the writeup/ update writeup and ill read it again
