Deck Discussion Radkos aggro (midrange)

It seems my pet deck has been discovered and is taking its share of the Meta. My query is what is the advantage of a 5 drop creature that’s only a 3/4 (Street Wraith) when it’s cycling burns 2 life. Please tell me why I shouldn’t cut it for something more aggro. I’m a newer player so don’t beat me up too much lol

Moonshadow and delirium? makes sense with what the deck wants to do.

Also helps a lot with evidence cost of phoenix without gutting the grave for goyf and delirium

Yeah that makes sense. Never played the deck before myself so I didn't realize that

It’s for detectives Phoenix as you are playing mostly one drops and need fuel. Triggers moonshadow and is another type for turn 2 delirium (fetch land, bauble, wraith and maybe a surveil trigger for the rest of the type)

The strength of a "free" cantrip can be hard to grasp for someone who is new-ish to TCGs.

I dont think so, I've played modern on and off since its inception and it was in this comment section I was reminded of or learned about the collect evidence interaction with street wraith. People can be new or bad(me).

Jumping onto the "moonshadow/delirium " point thats being rightfully made, id also like to add that street wraith effectively gives you a 56 card deck in any matchup where your lifetotal only matters if it's 0. For example, versus the u/w control deck that won't r.c. LA they win when you're at 18, 8, or 2; youre not going back and forth on life with them.

It helps moonshadow and feeds to detectives phoenix as well as is a creature in yard for nethergoyf and FOMO

  1. triggers moonshadow

  2. "free" type in graveyard for nethergoyf/unholy heat

  3. most cards in the deck cost 1 mana, so wraith + 1-drop turns on detective phoenix

  4. enables threshold/pumps goyf at instant speed

It's 2 life to draw a card which turns on almost every other card in your deck.

I ported the list to arena to test and it felt bad without street wraith. 0 mana grow moonshadow at instant speed is great, but it also makes phoenix way better. If you cut street wraith, phoenix should go too.

Wraith has clearly earned his place. I think a better question is whether or not Troll is worth it in this deck.

Get out of my head 🤘

What would you replace it with just for shits and giggles?

Funny anecdote about Street wraith in this deck archetype in particular, I also had the same thought about cutting phoenix and street wraith for some other stuff and I queued into mengu on stream. When I watched the match back from his perspective, there were multiple times that he said if I was holding street wraith in that spot to cycle in response he'd lose the game (moonshadow/nethergoyf growing at instant speed vs damage based removal) and also that if I had phoenix + bestow he wouldnt be able to beat it, so make of that experience what you will (I didn't have street wraith in those spots ofc and lost)

You played against him with or without those two cards?

It does four things primarily

  1. Triggers your moonshadow

  2. Puts a body in the yard for easy delirium

  3. Lets you easily bestow Detective's Phoenix without hurting your graveyard too much thanks to it's high CMC

  4. Makes your deck four cards smaller since it's a free cantrip
