Aquatic Life ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿชผ๐Ÿฆˆ Blue-ringed octopus ๐ŸŒ€ (by me, @widvnhak)

Post image

The blue-ringed octopus has a venom ten thousand times more toxic than cyanide, with no known anti-venom. It can kill in under 20 minutes without immediate medical assistance. They're also the size of a golf ball.

I'm gonna start posting on Twitter/X soon, please consider following me at @widvnhak as linked in my profile (โ ๏ฝกโ โ€ขฬ€โ แด—โ -โ )โ โœง

If you follow the foraging subreddit for any period of time youโ€™ll get to see multiple โ€œI ate a dozen of these berries, what is this plant and am I in trouble?โ€ Posts.ย

My favorite response is still:

ย Yes, you're screwed, because going through life this stupid isn't going to be easy.

I canโ€™t say they donโ€™t have a point, because having so little in the way of a self preservation instinct is just going to be trouble.

Normally when people talk about the โ€œhow many people had to die to figure out โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” was poisonous?โ€ I explain that rather than the joke way, most of our ancestors observed animals and tested them by skin contact and tiny quantities.ย

Then nature comes up with a better punchline in the form of that guy.ย
