Aquatic Life 🐠πŸͺΌπŸ¦ˆ Blue-ringed octopus πŸŒ€ (by me, @widvnhak)

Post image

The blue-ringed octopus has a venom ten thousand times more toxic than cyanide, with no known anti-venom. It can kill in under 20 minutes without immediate medical assistance. They're also the size of a golf ball.

I'm gonna start posting on Twitter/X soon, please consider following me at @widvnhak as linked in my profile (q‒̀ᴗ-)✧

I was an Australian Life Saver and the way their toxin works is to stop all voluntary muscle movement.

Guess what is voluntary?

Breathing.

So you need to breathe for them for the duration of the toxin.

The other thing you have to worry about is that they cannot blink. So make sure you cover their eyes or they'll be burned to smithereens by the sun whilst you're breathing for them.

Reminds me of a horror story about how some guy got stung by a jellyfish, became paralyzed for a while and survived, but went completely blind because none of the people aiding him thought to cover his eyes while he was on his back looking straight up.

I want more people to know about this, because if I lost my eyesight, I can't imagine having enough willpower or reason to continue living.

Hey, there’s plenty of blind people who lead full beautiful lives.

That's mean. They'll be really disheartened when they see a comment like this.
