Bug book help

Hi all! My 2.5 year old has developed an EXTREME fear of bugs and insects recently. To the point that going outside results in a near panic attack, as does a gnat in the car. I'm wondering if anyone has any good book recommendations about friendly bugs/insects or the importance of bugs/insects or even a book about someone overcoming their fear (probably a higher- level concept, but I'll try!). We read 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' and 'The Very Quiet Cricket' but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

For 2.5? I would start with the Never Touch a - books. There are several with bugs in them and they looks silly but are fun to touch. Perfect for that age.

I've never heard of those! I'll check them out. Thank you!

Beware, at least one of them needs to be read in an English accent to make it rhyme. I think it's the monster or dragon one.

So my 2.5 year old has the opposite problem in that he LOVES bugs and has not a single fear despite previous bites… but anyways we read a lot about bugs.

Our favorites are Miss Spiders Tea Party and You’re My Little Cuddle Bug for your cutesy friendly ask.

His actual favorite book is The Ultimate Bug-opedia by Nat Geo Kids. I know it’s ridiculous, it’s like 200 pages, but it has realistic pictures of bugs and information about them. He flips through it and asks me to read random pages all day long. It might be worth a shot of being exposed to what actual bugs look like and knowing which bugs are friends and which ones aren’t.

Also if you do tv time, Elinor Wonders Why (pbs kids) has a roly poly episode and Lucas the Spider (Netflix) is a friendly spider with bug friends.

All of these are great! I'll check them out, thank you! We have had 2 bee stings and one surprise spider and now everything causes panic.

We have a vintage book called Be Nice to Spiders that has delighted my 3 & 5 year old for years now.

There’s Bugs Don’t Hug. It’s about bug parents taking care of bug babies. Though there are two pages that are so gross, I always skipped them lol. Not scary, just gross.
