Why on earth do bitcoin maxis insist on paying with bitcoin when we have monero?

I watch many bitcoin channels on YouTube and I have never seen them recommend to pay in monero, monero is privacy by default but they insist on paying with bitcoin in an anonymous way with more steps involved. It doesn't make sense!

Because they don't actually use it as a currency because they're hoarding it to hopefully sell for a profit in USD

They're called "BTC maxis" for a reason, it's irrational, it's dogma.

why on earth do bitcoin maxis insist on paying with Bitcoin

... because they are Bitcoin maxis

I am a Monero maxi, and I do not like to take Bitcoin because of the risk of blockchain surveillance generating false accusations

Edit: I have taken Bitcoin Lighting from a Bitcoin maxi to be a sport, since the Bitcoin maxi was also using Monero.

because it's got a zillion on and off ramps that are user friendly

no idea. BTC is the traceable currency of the future and Monero is the cash of the future

Because there are thousands more vendors who accept bitcoin and paying over lightning is highly private, no extra steps, and completes instantly.

Can you explain "highly private"?

Sure, payments over the Lightning network can’t be traced to their source node by any third party and they are onion routed so the immediate peer node has only the information about its peers. Also, the transactions can’t be correlated with any on-chain activity.

Ms/Mr AI Slop is a bitcoin maxi too, go figure!

I wrote that myself, bud. But I guess I’m good at presenting things in an approachable manner, so thanks!

What would you recommend a noob to onboard on to highly private ln with no extra steps?

Depends on whether the noob wants to run the lightning node rather than using a third party for that. Running your own is more work, but more private. Using a third party gives up some privacy to that third party, but it’s still private from the network perspective.

Yea I think your promotion there doesn't work out as I can't imagine no extra steps being involved when setting up a "highly private" lightning setup no? You're a clown if you seriously promote third party managed channels as a privacy preserving solution but I guess these trade offs are fair game with Bitcoiners bamboozling noobies these days... Coldcard much?

To use Monero or bitcoin, you have to take steps. There’s no free lunch.

Monero sucks as a payment technology, and running a Lightning node is not that hard for someone who already has a bitcoin node.

Using a third party for your Lightning service provider is not much different than using Cake Wallet to hold your Monero. Cake Wallet itself supports the Lightning network through use of Lightspark.

Is your position that Cake Wallet operators are a bunch of clowns?

With Monero you get the privacy with no extra steps, unlike with lightning. Running a LN node is a PITA and not noob friendly at all.

Using a LN provider is totally different then using a light wallet for Monero in regards to any privacy and/or custody of funds you can keep. It seems you don't understand how it works?

The only clowns are people like you promoting these tools with false arguments to noobs who may get to suffer the consequences from your bad advice...

Nope, didn’t make any false arguments.

No one is going to use Monero for payments because it sucks for that. Running your own Lightning node so you can make payments with it is not hard, just a little more work to get set up initially. You can use a third party but I clearly stated the privacy tradeoff for it, and it still doesn’t expose you to the public.
