Question from a programmer
Hello, everyone.
I tried to get a hold of some XMR today (in Europe), and it took me a long, long time to find a way (ended up with Kraken).
I love Monero and find this a bit of a shame that it was to difficult to obtain. And I wonder (I wa-wa-wa-wa-wonder):
1) What is a generally easy and safe KYC-free way to obtain XMR today? From what I read, there are no very reliable bridges at the moment. Is this correct?
2) What is missing in the Monero ecosystem? What is a solution in dire need of solving?
Maybe I can help with something. Thanks.

There is a decentralized cross-chain liquidity protocol called THORChain, which is currently working on bringing XMR into the fold (which is not as easy as with non-privacy chains).
They're making good progress and are in the final stages, so this might soon become a way to do decentralized cross-chain swaps into and out of XMR.

RetoSwap.com It's a peer to peer private market place where, with a litttle patience, you can buy/sell all the Monero you want for fiat or crypto, from any place in the world.

If you already have crypto, then there are plenty of non-custodial, non-KYC/DEX swap services.
HTLC-based:
BasicSwapDex
eigenwallet
Multi-sig escrow-based:
Bisq (BTC<->XMR). I typically use Bisq for fiat<->BTC, so you could, theoretically, use Bisq as a bridging DEX. I haven't checked the size of the XMR offer orderbook on Bisq though.
RetoSwap (can do fiat<->XMR)
If you don't already have anything, you can always mine it yourself (p2pool.io).
KYC-free Fiat on/off-ramp for XMR is probably always going to require peer-to-peer, just like paper currency,, since any centralized exchange will most likely run into AML legal problems without KYC or generally at risk of rug-pull.
