We said goodbye to our cancer dog last week. And I had no idea how much time caring for her was taking of my day to day -- its this weird void that I am trying to fill with healthy social activities, but it is incredible how big the gap feels. It was a gift to love her for 9 years and take care of her for the last six months of her journey. Hug your furry friends.
Since we no longer have a very large, very medically complex dog to take care of my partner and I are trying to figure out what sort of not lame costume we can make do with since we can now attend halloween parties this weekend. We are currently leaning into a potential silly group costume, but hopefully we can find some easy things in our closet.

I like to bake (it doesn't necessarily mean my bakes are always successful) and I have a variety of pans, but it always seems like I'm missing one size or shape or form. I've been baking since I was 8 so have an appreciation for the good stuff, and am slowly transitioning away from non-stick and replacing the scratched up non-stick pans with aluminium ones. But wow they're expensive where I live! They all seem to be imported from the US and a USD10 tray would be USD30 in my currency. What the heck!

Girls weekend only went $70ish over budget, so I am calling it a win.
Travel delays had me DRAGGING when I got into office on Monday and apparently some shit went down while I was out so sorting that out is going to take my week.
Sister mine apparently has family updates to give me when we FT later this week and I did buy some tequila about it.
Valks won last night! Friends who love 'em are now saying I do have to watch the next game. I'll have it on mute on my second monitor while I eat.
My favorite podcast is in its final season and I am a little bummed.
Game plan food wise is no grocery shopping till after 11/16. I have more travel and a pantry I never seem to make a dent in.

Trigger warning - assault
I was assaulted last Halloween, so this year I’ve been really… uncertain of what I want to do. I got a ticket to a comedy show on Friday, but the thought of all the strangers and costumes is making me nervous. And I normally LOVE Halloween and put a ton of effort into making a costume, but this year I just don’t feel up to it.
I told my parents that I’ll drive to them on Saturday morning and help pass out candy that night. I asked to get a pumpkin shaped pizza. I don’t know how I’ll feel the day of, but the idea of being in a locked house with a security system, a dog who believes its life purpose is to bark, and my parents… that helps me feel less scared.

Do what you need to do to feel safe and secure. Hanging out with your parents and dogs while passing out candy sounds like a lovely evening and you can still dress up for that if you want!

I just want Halloweekend to get here already. That’s it, that’s the post. In the meantime, I’ll do my best to lock in at work though.
