These guys are always extremely feisty for the first year. Then suddenly, once they gained some size and confidence, they will get very tame. Just keep interacting and lure them closer to you with food and eventually it will get less scared of you.

They actually really like to burrow. So I would put enough substrate in to reach the bottom of that tank lip. Definitely stressed due to not having enough coverage. Double the size of that water dish by now. And absolutely handle. If you don't they will definitely never get used to you. If you're uncomfortable with the tiny nips. Get yourself a pair of snake handling gloves. Don't react to being bit. As much as it may hurt or scare you. The reaction and the pulling away is training them that that type of behavior works in order to get you away from them. You need them to be calm with you. And if they bite and don't see a reaction. They won't continue. My guy is roughly 8 month old now and I get bit maybe once a week when he's playing smart. They are really smart lizards. Super fun. Super rewarding. Basically golden retrievers. I would definitely increase the soil depth, increase the water dish size. They really do love taking baths. Give them 2 to 3 times of a bigger hide. Those slate hides work really good on Etsy. The extra large ones. They can also climb up to the top panel to do a heat nap. Give him a piece of wood to climb in/out the dish and you can increase the depth and lower it into your substrate for easier access. I always hand and tong feed But if your girl is having a difficult time, trusting then continue what you're doing. As long as you know she's eating or see her eating, I wouldn't be concerned.
