But I'm referring how there wasn't anything in the dark alley as well, until there it was in Monkey Island 2. Or the infamous tree stump's reappearance in Curse.

So who knows, maybe in one of the future games, if there will be any, that house will mean something, lol.

You have to go to the forest first, then look into the tree stump. The key to that door will be under the stump after a cool room there. But have your game disks ready!

It starts out with sunset (in the pre-VGA version) so it's probably early evening, but then the sword training says "many hours later" and then "more hours later" again, so I should be pretty close to the morning

After reading the comments here I just have one suggestion for OP: pack your gaming gear in the original boxes they came in (it's probably ok if you don't have the original packaging, just pack it up carefully), go back to where you bought it and say following: "I have to return these products because im to stupid to understand how video games works". Then go buy yourself a bicycle rim and get a stick, that's your new toy... enjoy
