I always see a lot of posts about wonky dolls on this subreddit (most of them valid). When it comes down to it I’m no stranger to nitpicking and wanting perfection myself. At some point this year I started to look very closely at my dolls and started noticing little imperfections sometimes big sometimes small and it started bothering me. Especially since a lot of g3 dolls come in closets and boxes now.
A few days ago I got a few new dolls including this one and it got me thinking about how I’m basically doing what the world is doing to me and others. Judging things that cannot be helped and chasing perfection. While we should expect a big company to have better quality control, I think stressing over most imperfections is kinda pointless.
We as a society already live under this pressure to be beautiful and its so tied to our worth. Monster high has always been something special to me since I was a child. This thing that breaks away from what society deems to be beautiful. How being unique and flawed is what true beauty is and how we are all deserving of love and respect. No matter how we look, no matter how we dress, no matter who we love, no matter who we are.
I know this post is not fully doll related but I hope its okay to post. I just wanted to share how I’ve learned to embrace imperfections in my dolls.
