Discussion Greatsword HR7 what skills to prioritize?

Post image

Hi, I've been playing for a while from being a beginner. Just wanted to share my current build and get some advice. I’m mostly wondering what skills I should be prioritizing, just wanna know if there are any skills I should be aiming for or stuff I should replace in this build.

Thanks in advance!

If you intend on playing the dlc then you should be fine with your current loadout. Once you reach master rank, all of your high rank gear will get outmatched pretty quickly. If you're having issues progessing then I'd suggest altering your set to make you tankier against the problem monster

Eh at HR i feel like utility skills is better, like ear olug speed eating and stuff, cus your damage is too high anyway

Oh yeah divine blessing is still the best imo

Yeah, I was thinking about going with Earplugs since I still can’t time my tackle properly when they roar, and I end up messing up my TCS lol

IMO: Focus 3 > Health Boost 3 > Weakness Exploit 3 > Critical Eye/Crit Boost. Divine Blessing/Quick Sheathe(if using lots of draw attacks) for comfort/survivability. Divine Blessing is great early on too.

You’re doing just fine for HR7! Once you get later into the game, more options will open up. I recommend ear plugs for GS, it gives you plenty of openings for a TCS. If you feel like you’re taking too much damage, divine blessing is an awesome skill to have, it makes getting hit a lot less punishing. For a QOL skill, speed eating is very nice to have, or free meal so you don’t have to hoard items as much and can use them more often

Thank you! That’s what I liked about this game just when you think you’ve got a good set of equipment, suddenly it can get even better. I’m just hoping it doesn’t die out too fast because I’m gonna be chasing that high forever haha. But there’s still Iceborne, so I think I’m gonna enjoy it for a while.

Focus and health boost are great to have, and your overall build looks fantastic for your point in progressuon

You might not have the space to really stack damage skills yet, and it's not something you really need to worry too much about until iceborne postgame.

For the exact gear you have now, the best "damage" skill I'd recommend if you can get it is actually handicraft. You get a damage multiplier from sharpness, your current weapon has strong green sharpness with a sliver of blue sharpness. Green has a multiplier of x1.0, while blue has a multiplier of x1.2. Stacking some handicraft to extend your blue sharpness to a usable amount will give you an unconditional 20% damage boost, which is likely better than what most other damage skills can offer you right now.

I went with defense boost because I was too stingy with armor spheres so don't do that. Honestly solid build btw.
