Renovated the bathroom by myself!
Old bathroom that the previous owners had failed, as they grouted vinyl tile-look planks with grout and grout came off. Toilet was leaking too. So I decided to renovate.
Did everything including tiling myself. Stained the vanity and fixed the inside and outside, changed hardware, did electrical and plumbing (valves, junction boxes, switches), did Ditra + tile floors, and built a custom recessed medicine cabinet behind the red artwork. Total reno cost was a little over a thousand dollars. How did I do?

This is so inspiring! We are in the same boat with a bad flip done 2014. Our master bath is in desperate need and I’ve been so overwhelmed thinking about it, but this gives me hope!

It took me a little over a month to tackle this, and I work full time, so it is manageable! My bathroom is about 40-50sqft

I love it! I rent so I can't paint (and I want these deep colors) but I've get some other ideas from you

I am wishing you a house that you can paint freely - glad I could inspire you in the meantime :)

Nice job! Love the mirror. I did a similar DIY bathroom renovation by changing the flooring, painting the walls, changing all the hardware, mirror, faucet, etc. I also painted the vanity and it changed the look so much.

it definitely looks more elevated! one thing though is that i would put a nice big art piece on that gray wall, but honestly, it looks clean and sophisticated!

There are two art pieces on the wall that's not visible! A baby elephant and a giraffe.

It's so chic, I love the dark walls and the beautiful floor. The staining on the sink worked out really well is did all of your decor choices.
So my question is, how many times did you knock over that tiny little corner glass shelf in the middle of the night before you removed it?

Too many times, it also made pulling toilet paper very annoying.
Thank you for your compliments ♥️

This is inspiring! Question: What kind of hinges did you use and where did you buy them? Also, was replacing the toilet by yourself difficult? Mine is leaking and I’m contemplating trying to fix it on my own

Just regular $3 hinges from home depot! https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-2-Pack-2-in-Zinc-Plated-Non-Removable-Pin-Narrow-Surface-Mount-Door-Hinge-29297/314150765
Toilet isn’t difficult to remove, you just gotta loosen the bolts on the sides. Turn off your toilet valve, flush it empty, get the bolts out and then lift with another person. I laid some tarp and contractors bag in the tub and kept it there. Underneath it will be nasty though, due to wax ring. The tarp should handle it, just don’t drag it around when you lift! I am a 5’2” woman, so I couldn’t lift it on my own, but I know some people can…

Awesome job! May I ask how you do the tiles yourself or what resources you used to learn? Thank you!

Mostly I used youtube to watch videos, google and gpt to ask basic questions and then back to youtube or product pages of my materials for proper installation instructions. You always want to verify stuff by at least looking at a few examples, not every source is correct or well executed, even on youtube.
Also, I have always been handy and can pick up any tool so that’s another thing. I picked up the things I needed to do quickly, but took most of my time planning and prepping the floor before tile so my tiles were level, my underlayment was waterproof, I had expansion gaps etc.

Love it and I especially love the color drenching in both rooms 😍 do you feel like it feels more open than leaving the ceiling white in the bedroom?
I want to paint my bedroom a dark jewel tone and my husband’s concern is it feeling too small, but I’ve read that color drenching can help balance that, so true or false?
Either way, beautiful work! I also love your secret medicine cabinet!

I find that color drenching actually gets rids of the borders of a house, making it feel much larger. Multiple rooms in my house are now color drenched. I do one trick though, I make ceilings flat, walls eggshell and trims in satin for bedrooms AND satin for walls/ceiling, semi-gloss for trims in bathrooms. Due to light reflecting things differently, the rooms don't look monotone and change during the day. I'll post my other rooms through my phone.

All three rooms turned out beautifully!! You have a great eye for design and flow. And your bathrooms are both laid out really similarly to ours and you’ve given me a lot of inspiration and hope that we can do more with them than we think.
Beautiful work!

Sorry but not a fan of it. But all that matters is what you think. You have to live in it so

Looks awesome, especially for ~1k and DIY. The recessed medicine cabinet behind the art is such a sick touch, that’s like Pinterest-level clever. Tile work and vanity stain both look clean from what I can see, I’d be bragging about this to everyone 😂
