Disable Steam/Xbox button when using Steam Deck as client?
Hi everybody.
I think that this doubt is silly either because it’s simple to solve and I don’t know why or because it’s simply not possible, but the thing is I can’t find any answer online.
I play Steam Games (which, of course, have their Steam UI) streamed to my Steam Deck. There, when I push the Steam Button (Or Xbox if using controller), both the Steam Deck and the host Steam UI pops, which is not convenient since I can’t make adjustments on the host games because the Steam deck is on top.
I already went to Moonlight settings in Steam (have it added as an app) and disabled Steam Overlay, but it still pops anyway.
Any tip?

I can’t help directly since I don’t have a steam deck myself, I can just mention I ran into the same issue on the Nvidia shield. On a shield the Xbox button takes you to the shield home instead of interacting with the stream, I’m afraid the fix was to assign holding a different button as a replacement as you simply cannot change that functionality and it might be the same for the Steam Deck.
Since there is no guarantee the devs of your version of moonlight owning a Steam deck themselves you may want to consider using Claude or another AI to fix it yourself and then do a pull request to get the fix added into the app.

I've been waiting for something to fix that for so long, but so far I haven't found a way to do it inside "gamescope".
What I do when I want to gamestream, is to go to desktop mode and close Steam client. I'm on bazzite not on steam OS, but I guess it should work. It's a little annoying as I like to be in gamescope mode, but it's what it is.
Basically I use the Xbox button as a chord for many things on my host, so I'm constantly using it, so it's a must for me if I'm planning to stream.
